THREE: We have to be sent.
Acts 1:8 (NIV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Acts 2:38-39 (NIV) Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And YOU WILL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. The promise is for you and your children AND FOR ALL WHO ARE FAR OFF—FOR ALL WHOM THE LORD OUR GOD WILL CALL."

This helps us know what to expect out of this unified life and ministry of Christ. Christ wants us to go out where the people are. He is going to be taking us out of the safety of our home and church. We know that we can't handle all this responsibility. We all feel our inadequacies as we start thinking about taking on “ends of the earth” ministry. If Jesus starts to take us out into such a work and we don't know that this is our job, we will resist. Two things are being shown here. First, the promised Holy Spirit is for everyone. Second, the reason He comes in us is to make us witnesses (people who have experienced Jesus themselves). That is why Jesus said that everyone who believes in Him will do the same works He did. Jesus spent His time being a witness for the Father. We are going to be doing the same thing under the powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit. But, we must understand that this Holy Spirit power isn't something we use. It is something the Holy Spirit uses to make us available to Jesus. Jesus can do the work through us if we let Him. How are we going to always be ready and available to Jesus? That is the job of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit Gives You All You Need
John 16:13-14 (NIV) But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to Me by taking from what is Mine and making it known to you.

John 15:26 (NIV) "When the Counselor comes, Whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth Who goes out from the Father, He will testify about Me.

He is constantly explaining the ministry of Christ to us so we will be willing to cooperate with Him. Since we are in a constant state of deciding whether or not we are going to yield to the life and ministry of Jesus, the Holy Spirit is constantly explaining why Jesus wants to do what He wants to do. If Jesus just took over our life and ministry, then we would be turned into robots. We would simply be remote controls that He used to do His ministry through. We will always maintain our freedom to choose what we will or will not do. That makes us able to worship and serve God from our heart. But, it also makes it necessary for God to keep us convinced that this is the right thing to do.
