STEP TWO: Keep Trying To Get Moses Committed
Committing Isn’t Easy
Exo 4:10-12 (NIV) Moses said to the LORD, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” The LORD said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”

As you can see, Moses wasn’t FEELING any better. There was never going to be enough proof, evidence, or reasons for convincing Moses to do what he was being told. As long as Moses kept trying to make himself feel confident and convinced, HE would fail. But, if he opened up his heart and allows God to speak power and assurance into his heart, he would FEEL the desire, the confidence, and the power to go. All these things God was doing weren’t trying to convince Moses’ mind, they were training procedures helping Moses learn how to use faith in God to speak to people. Moses was a tough one to change; and that kept him from being ready to speak to the people.

More Creation Power Words
Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say: This sentence wasn’t a command that was expecting Moses to go through his own power or effort. God was continuing to speak more creation power to Moses. When He said “go,” it gave Moses the power to go. When He said: “I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”, it was the power to believe God was going to take care of all Moses’ weaknesses. But, because Moses’ heart was closed and his mind was trying to be convinced, he wasn’t ABLE to respond to the command.

As you read the Bible with faith in God’s creation power words, your heart starts to FEEL the transformation and power flowing into you. Once you feel the power and know the Bible just created a miracle through your reading the Bible, that powerful feeling will override your mind and empower you to start obeying God more. Pray and ask God to help you read the Bible as His Book and not some human book that is telling you to use your human efforts, skills, and abilities.

Working Around Unbelief
Exo 4:13-16 (NIV) But Moses said, “O Lord, please send someone else to do it.” Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and his heart will be glad when he sees you. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him.

It looks like Moses was rebelling against God because he was refusing to obey. Moses wanted to obey; he just couldn’t get his heart to a place where he COULD obey. In spite of all the creation power words God spoke, Moses had long since closed his heart to God. He had given up; he had lost his faith in God; he had tossed the dream; and, he had decided that he himself was a lost cause. This can happen to you; you can be such an evaluator of your life that you no longer accept God’s evaluation of you. Moses couldn’t even allow God to tell him who he was.

STEP THREE: Committed
And Ready To Resist
Creation Power Words Are Seeds
Exo 4:20-21 (NIV) So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand. The LORD said to Moses, “When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have given you the power to do. But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go. It took Moses a lot of spiritual work performed on him before he was ready to commit and start resisting all the objections that kept poping up in his head. But, God got him ready.

Resisting Fear Of Death
Exo 4:22-23 (NIV) Then say to Pharaoh, ‘This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son, and I told you, “Let my son go, so he may worship me.” But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.’” It takes a lot of commitment to go before a king that has the power to kill you on the spot. You have to resist a lot of fears, doubts, negative imaginations, and threats from the king. But, help me see the incredible work God did in Moses. He was finally committed and was ready to resist all emotions, evidences, and potential problems that came his way.

Resisting Fear Of Rejection
Exo 4:27-31 (NIV) The LORD said to Aaron, “Go into the desert to meet Moses.” So he met Moses at the mountain of God and kissed him. Then Moses told Aaron everything the LORD had sent him to say, and also about all the miraculous signs he had commanded him to perform. Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites, and Aaron told them everything the LORD had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people, and they believed. And when they heard that the LORD was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.

There are things you are afraid of that you know you shouldn’t be. But, it is important for you to not just let them go. If these fears could potentially keep you from obeying God, then you need to bring them before Him and let Him heal you. People are in need in a great way. God wants to train you and empower you to help them. But, you may fear people’s opinions. You may fear it costing you too much if you talk about Jesus to people. You might fear messing up. Whatever fears you are aware of, take them to God and let Him heal you.

Resisting Those Who Resist God
Exo 5:1-2 (NIV) Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the desert.’” Pharaoh said, “Who is the LORD, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD and I will not let Israel go.” Being committed to God means you are willing to do what He tells you to do. There were so many people who were suffering and Moses was one of the few people who could be helped to be willing to go.

No doubt you have problems that keep you fairly busy. For God to add things to your life might keep you from being willing to commit to Him. But, without commitment, there will be other things that actually invade your life if you don’t resist them. Commitment to God empowers you to resist the things that are trying to hurt you. That gives you more time to do those things that God wants you to do.

Commitment Can Cause Trouble
Exo 5:5-9 (NIV) Then Pharaoh said, “Look, the people of the land are now numerous, and you are stopping them from working.” That same day Pharaoh gave this order to the slave drivers and foremen in charge of the people: “You are no longer to supply the people with straw for making bricks; let them go and gather their own straw. But require them to make the same number of bricks as before; don’t reduce the quota. They are lazy; that is why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to our God.’ Make the work harder for the men so that they keep working and pay no attention to lies.”

When you try to be committed to God and it seems like everything goes wrong, that can challenge your commitment. But, that is where resistance comes in. You go to God and let Him strengthen your commitment so you can resist all thoughts, feelings, and circumstances that try to make you feel like you failed.

You Won’t Always Be Appreciated
Exo 5:19-21 (NIV) The Israelite foremen realized they were in trouble when they were told, “You are not to reduce the number of bricks required of you for each day.” When they left Pharaoh, they found Moses and Aaron waiting to meet them, and they said, “May the LORD look upon you and judge you! You have made us a stench to Pharaoh and his officials and have put a sword in their hand to kill us.”

This is where you resist the temptation to question God. When you are committed to God to help people and they get mad at you, it can seem like their lack of appreciation is too much. But, commitment to God means you aren’t helping people for appreciation. Eph 6:7-8 (NIV) Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free. This Scripture will empower you to resist wanting praise from humans.
