It doesn’t really matter what kind of marriage issues you have or what is causing them; Jesus’ procedure is the same for dealing with all kinds of marriage issues. Jesus wants to help you DISCOVER what it is going to take for you to be set free. This DISCOVERY course is designed to help you look over some concepts about marriage issues so you can see where Jesus is taking you. If a particular comment or concept doesn’t apply to you, just ignore it and move on. There are certain aspects of your marriage struggles that are somewhat unique to you. Not that you are the only one who is going through this struggle. It is just that this study has to cover a lot of different types of marriage problems.

The most difficult thing about being helped by Jesus is to accept the fact that His principles are often general. He will be helping you with your marriage issues while using principles that He would use no matter what your problem is. That may cause you to feel like He isn’t REALLY addressing your specific problem. In the previous “Finding The Right Relationship” series, He went over some specific aspects of marriage difficulties with you. But, that was only because you needed to understand where you and He are going. As you looked and and continue to look at the problem and the solution, you will need to allow Him to point out some of the characteristics of the marriage problem that you may not be familiar with.

It is true that it is you that is having problems with marriage; but, that doesn’t make you an expert on the marriage subject. It is vital that you give up your own opinions and procedures. Since Jesus does things in a very different way, you have to start looking for a pathway into miracles. This different approach can cause you to be somewhat resistive to His methods. However, what you need to realize is, He knows what He is doing. He is taking a problem that you are facing and haven’t been able to win over and is bringing you the solution.

Faith and trust in Jesus must be developed, if you are going to get His help. Don’t forget that Jesus honors your God-given free will all the time. The moment you resist or interfere is the moment Jesus backs off. Things can be going really well for you and Jesus, and all of a sudden it all stops. Quickly pray and ask Jesus to show you why your progress stopped. There is probably some kind of world training, personal philosophy, accepted belief, or a human opinion you have that is in conflict with what Jesus is teaching you. After you have prayed, wait and see if Jesus causes an idea to pop up in your mind that helps explain what is going on. If He does, take it to Him and ask Him to help you with it.

Heb 11:6 (NIV) And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Do you believe that God rewards those who earnestly seek Him? If you don’t believe that all this study and prayer are going to pay off, then it is impossible to please God. It doesn’t matter how many times you have tried and failed. It doesn’t matter how many times you have prayed and lost the battle. It doesn’t matter what all you have tried and it didn’t work. God rewards those who earnestly seek Him. You need to allow all this study and prayer to help you allow Jesus to speak faith into you. He will empower you to believe that God rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Here’s how you can know you have faith that God is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him:

• You have faith, if you never, never give up. Gal 6:9 (NIV) Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we WILL reap a harvest if we do not give up.


• You have faith, if you don’t use your past to set the standard for your future. Phil 3:13-14 (NIV) Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.


• You have faith, if you fix your eyes on Jesus and wait for Him to speak faith into you so you can believe that God is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him. Heb 12:2 (NIV) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.


• You have living faith, if you take faith-action and start living your life on the basis of the fact that God is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him. James 2:17 (NIV) In the same way, FAITH by itself, if it is not accompanied by ACTION, is dead.
