When you do something that is really bad, or, when you make the same mistake more than once, if you really WANT to stop doing it, which you do, then you will be looking for a way to be set free, which you are. In Jesus’ parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, the tax collector didn’t accept his mistakes and sins; he HATED the way he was living and the things he was doing. But, he didn’t allow them to defeat him; he brought them to God and allowed Him to deal with them. He DESIRED God’s help; and, he HATED his failures. What happened to him?

Luke 18:14 (NIV) I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

You don’t want to keep coming to God with the same problems and failures over and over again. Forgiveness is wonderful; but, being set free from the problem is even more wonderful. You want to, at some point, get the victory over the one or two issues God is causing you to feel guilty about.

We are now moving into the place where you can reach out to your heavenly Father and ask Him to put His Kingdom transformation and miracles into this situation. You already have God’s Kingdom inside you through salvation. Kingdom attitudes, Kingdom character, and Kingdom power have entered into you. They are getting you ready for spending eternity in God’s Kingdom. But, you need to allow this Kingdom to spread into each area of your life where you are having failures and problems. It is a process of YIELDING to those things you already have.

When you said, Your Kingdom come, as you used this prayer to be born again, you were asking God to not only put His Kingdom in your heart and life, you were asking Him to put His attitudes and character in you. When you asked, He honored your request; He put His attitudes and character inside you. It is His attitudes and character that make YOU and the rest of His family and Kingdom such a wonderful thing to belong to. What you are struggling with isn’t a lack of God-attitudes and God-character; you are struggling with realizing you have them and knowing HOW to take advantage of them.

If you could, would you force some people to do what you wanted? Well, God CAN do that to you; but, it is His attitudes and character to honor your God-given free will. Just because you pray this prayer and get all the things you pray for in it, doesn’t mean they take over your life. Why? Because God’s character and attitudes ARE to only make them available to you; and then, He allows you to decide whether or not you want to use them; and He allows you to decide how, when, how much, where, and why you use them. If you don’t know this principle, they will lay dormate in your life; and, you will probably think you didn’t get them.

Each day, as you pray this prayer, you are giving God permission to put inside you more and more of the things His family and Kingdom stand for; AND, He is giving you all these things you are asking for. But, you are used to things being done the way the world does them. You are expecting God to treat you the way the world treated you.

Just look at the world around you; the world in general and the individual people around you are struggling because of all the sin and evil they are doing to one another. This war has been taking place in your heart and life. You have felt bad things toward others and you have experienced bad things from other. You were and they are being driven, pushed, tempted, lured, baited, and addicted. That isn’t the Kingdom you belong to now; things are completely different where you now live. You are IN the world; but, you don’t BELONG to the world.

Since God’s character and attitudes are in you, if you believe they are there, you will realize that you can choose God’s character and attitudes when you are tempted to react “the way you have always reacted.” You may doubt they are in you when you feel the way you have “always” felt. You may doubt they are in you when you react the way you have “always” reacted.

If you understand that God’s character and attitudes aren’t going to force you to change, God will give you the POWER to stop, pray, and then yield to His power-character and power-attitudes. THEY ARE THERE; they are just WAITING for you to CHOOSE to pause. You have God’s power to wait until you get His character and attitudes to CAUSE ideas and feeling to pop up in your mind and heart; choose them and THEN you are ready to react.

Just say: “Your Kingdom come” and the power, healing, and love of God’s Kingdom will start healing your heart and life. You will start getting the benefits that come from being your heavenly Father’s child and being a member of His Kingdom. His character and attitudes are waiting inside you to use them.
