In Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus tells you how to help others ask God for the privilege of becoming a member of His family, entering His Kingdom, and living there forever:

Mat 6:9-13 This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts (sins), as we also have forgiven our debtors (those who have sinned against us). And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

Okay now, let’s break this prayer down together so you can understand what it is your friend will be asking from God, their heavenly Father. It isn’t a magical set of words like “open sesame” and the doors to the Kingdom of God open to them. They are praying for God to make changes in their life that qualify them for eternal life.

This prayer is designed so that your friend can ask God to make them His child, a part of His family, and let them into His eternal Kingdom by Him curing them of their spiritual disease of sin. God wants them to understand what it is they are asking for.

As your friend asks God for the things in each phrase of this prayer, it has to be what they really want for their future here and in eternity. These words ARE the requests that HAVE to be made for them to enter God’s family and Kingdom; but, do they represent your friend’s true desires and wishes? Let’s take these very important words and see if your friend is willing to make them their prayer to God.

Mat 6:9-13 This, then, is how you should pray.

This is the kind of prayer we MUST all pray in order to become God’s child, a member of His family, and to enter into His eternal Kingdom. From this prayer on, your friend will start a life of talking to their heavenly Father, asking Him to heal them from all the causes of the issues of life; and, they will start asking for His help in living a life of power as a new person.

If your friend ultimately decides to make God their heavenly Father and lives the Christian life for the rest of their life, then this prayer incorporates the main requests they will continue to have on a daily basis. Let’s take a look at the first thing they need to pray; but, before we do, let’s pray together about you and your friend.
