Citizens Of The Kingdom

Day One    Page One

This Week’s “Walking With Jesus” Reading
Recommendation:
Luke Chapters 7 And 8

Learning Your Citizenship Rights
You have certain rights you inherited by being born in the kingdom or nation you were born into. As you lived around people who were older than you, you saw from their examples what your rights and freedoms were. Then as you got older, you experienced, on a personal level, what you can do and what you can’t. You learned what was legal and what was illegal. Now, you have been born again. This time your birth was a spiritual birth into the Kingdom of God. You have been made a child of God and a citizen in His Kingdom. This too has given you certain rights and privileges. The reason you are allowed to talk to your heavenly Father is because you are His child in His Kingdom. He has given you free access to Him and His provisions. You can talk to Him ANYTIME you WANT to about ANYTHING that concerns you. The reason this is possible is because of your rights and privileges as a citizen and as a child. God decided that, because we are His children and therefore citizens of His Kingdom, we shall have access to Him at all times.
Through our access to God and His Word, the Holy Spirit will be teaching us how to live in this new Kingdom. The rules, principles, rights, privileges, and methods are different from the nations and kingdoms of this world. We can’t take the things we have learned from being a citizen in the nation or kingdom in which we were born and use them for God’s Kingdom. Those rules, principles, rights, privileges, and methods don’t work in our new Kingdom. The Bible, explained by the Holy Spirit, will teach us how to operate and succeed in the Kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit will use our experiences in the national and kingdom results of this world. He will show us their failures and shortcomings so we can appreciate God’s way of doing things.

Ask Jesus to help you be a good child and citizen by learning all you need to know about your new Kingdom and family. Ask Him to assist you in understanding His position in this Kingdom and what it means for us to be IN Him as it relates to our position. Pray that you will be a good student of Kingdom living and what the rights and privileges are. Tell Him you want to learn how to live in His Kingdom now and in eternity.
