Deciding What To Store In Your Heart
We have learned that the things stored in our heart controls the words we speak with our tongue. We have seen that those things we speak with our mouth influences our body and our life. Since those things that are in our heart are the foundation for who we are and what we do, it is important for us to pick the right things to store in our heart. Those things we expose ourselves to eventually find a place in our heart and become the philosophy of our life. We don’t have to go back and undo things that are philosophies in our mind and convictions in our heart. We just need to let God give us new philosophies that will gradually supersede those we previously had. But, if we keep putting new ideas, that are false information, into our mind that are going to eventually move into our heart, then we are going to have a lot of problems with our life. The words of our mouth will reflect information that hurts us and others.
To start living God’s word requires that we have it in a superior place in our heart. If the opinions of “experts” hold a high position in your heart, you will live out their opinions. Your conversation will reflect their philosophies. You may not quote them but the things you say will hold the basis of their opinions in them. |
Since you believe what they said to be true, you will launch your life off of that information. If you believe most of our motivations are based on sex, as many psychologists represent, then that will be reflected in your philosophy of life. It would become a part of your relationships with friends, your spouse, your children, your business associates, and your new contacts. If you believe that the love of money is the ROOT of all evil, then your thoughts, feelings, actions, and words will be inspired by that foundational concept. What you believe to be true is very important. Pray that God will help you decide what you should believe. Ask Him to show you why you should believe what you should believe. Let Him help you start agreeing with His words. Let the Holy Spirit explain the meaning and the reasons behind all that Jesus said. You need to be convinced that Jesus taught the right information or you won’t accept His words into your mind and heart. You need to see that He is the expert above all experts, or you will MIX His words with the words of others. Ask God to help you get to the place where anything that disagrees with Jesus’ words is rejected by you. |
