Our world is in very bad spiritual shape. They are like this valley of dry bones that Ezekiel saw in a vision. Large quantities of people are spiritually dead and are in such horrible shape that it can appear to us that it is impossible to help them come alive. But, if we take the attitude of Ezekiel and accept the fact that God knows what is possible, we will keep our faith in His ability to raise them up from the dead. God is giving Ezekiel a dream, a vision of His great power. But, as usual, he wants to do it through His child. It would be easier for Him to just go ahead and do His work without us. But, His love and generosity are shown as He keeps asking us to join Him in His work. He is inviting you to join Him in helping desperate people whose lives are in such bad shape it looks like nothing can help them. Most of them have given up on themselves. Only God and His power are able to save them from the destiny that they are headed toward.

You will notice, in Ezekiel’s vision, he isn’t going to have to raise these bones to life. God is giving Him step by step instructions on what He wants him to do. As Ezekiel obeys God, God uses His supernatural power to make the miracle happen.

The only way Ezekiel is going to fail at this assignment is for him to refuse to yield to his part in the assignment or for him to try to MAKE the dry bones come alive through his own efforts. All he has to do is simply obey God as He gives him the assignments. God has put Ezekiel where He wants him, is telling him that He wants him to do these things now, is then explaining how He wants it done, and is showing him who He wants it done to. That is the normal way for God to lead His people into being mightily used by Him. He will make sure all of the steps He wants you to take are clear to you, as He prepares you for helping someone with a need that requires His supernatural work.

Pray that God will give you a vision of how He wants to use you to do His mighty work. Ask Him to open your eyes to the simplicity of your part. Tell Him your concerns, fears, hesitations, and confusions concerning being used by Him. Lay out everything that is bothering you so God can heal those areas of your heart and bring you into obedience to His requests. Trust Him to lead you into His mighty work in a very gentle and loving way.
