Six Questions
There are six questions you need to be asking yourself so you and Jesus can evaluate your relationship with Him. These are six questions that you will need to use from time to time to help you see how much of your life is being devoted to the Christ-life. They are not criticisms or accusations; they are tools to aid you in learning how to use The Three Keys To All Of Christianity. They will help you find out where you need more prayer, as you go over them to find the weaknesses in your relationship with Jesus. Your first reactions to these questions may be guilt, discouragement, frustration, or feeling overwhelmed. However, these questions are a job for Jesus. If He wants improvements in an area and you ASK Him for His help, He will empower you, train you, and work miracles in you and your circumstance. The challenge will be for you to face the implications of these questions and not feel a weight on you and your performance. If that happens, stop and ask Jesus to help you put your faith and trust back on Him and His abilities. 1. Who’s Running Your Life?
The first question is taking a look at who or what is controlling you. When you get up in the morning to start your day, you have things you feel you have to do. Your day is typically scheduled and planned out. Who or what caused you to have that schedule and make those plans? If Jesus can’t take you where He wants you to go and lead you into doing and saying those things He wants to do and say through you, then your day is going to be somewhere else doing and saying things for someone else. Ask Jesus to help you be honest about these things so you will know what to pray for. Ask Him to help you stay relaxed, as He helps you evaluate who is making the decisions for your life. Ask Him to go over your schedule and plans and then help you put them in His hands. Let Him show you what, if anything, needs to be improved. Then give it over to Him in sincerity asking for His power to help you make the changes. 2. Why Do You Want, What You Want?
You want something; you feel various desires pushing you in a certain direction. You have a reason for doing and saying everything you allow to come out of your mouth and life. What are they? What are you putting your time, effort, and money on? What do you feel would make you happy, if you could obtain it? If money were no object, what would you buy? If time weren’t a problem, where would you spend most of it? If you could spend most of your effort doing something, what would it be? Only God can dig down deep into your heart and bring up the true desires that influence your life. Ask Jesus to help you be totally honest with these questions? He can see everything in your heart and desires. If there is anything that you feel Jesus is not pleased with, take it to Him. Don’t try to figure out how to fix it. Don’t let it feel to hard or impossible to give up. Just take it to Jesus and let Him help you with it. Don’t ignore it. It needs Jesus’ supernatural help so you can live a much better life. 3. What Power Are You Using?
You may be tapping into your own strength for some things, using Jesus’ power for others, allowing Satan to inspire your words and actions for various reactions, and giving the world the right to empower you to do and say certain things. If you are using self-help philosophies, thinking things through without inviting Jesus into your thoughts, allowing anger, resentment, thoughts of revenge, a lack of forgiveness, greed, or lustful thoughts to empower you, then you need Jesus’ help.
It isn’t just a matter of you deciding to make changes. The only way to be set free from improper power sources is to ask Jesus for His help. As you are going about your day, the Holy Spirit will speak to your conscience about one of these types of things. Ask Jesus to help you to automatically and immendiately stop and ask for His help. Then when He does, present whatever the Holy Spirit is pointing out and ask Jesus to empower you to do the right thing. Then believe He heard you and start thanking Him for His help. |
4. Who Set Your Goals?
You have already accepted goals for your life. Who developed and established them? You were the one who had to embrace these goals. But, who did you allow to design, direct, and point out these goals? Every moment of every day, you are doing what you are doing because of something you are trying to accomplish. What is it? The relationships you have, the job you work on, the hobbies and entertainment you involve yourself in, the pleasures and fun you choose, and the lifestyle you want are all an attempt to fulfill and reach these goals that have been chosen by you. You and Jesus need to take a long look at all of your goals and see what needs to be done in order to establish a better relationship with Him. Ask Jesus to show you what kind of goals He wants you to have. If He is indicating that He wants you to have different goals, let Him show you what they are and how to go about embracing them. Ask Him to give you the power to give up any goals that He wants you to get rid of. Then ask Him to help you establish the goals He wants you to have. 5. Where Do You Make Your Investments?
There are two worlds that you are currently dealing with. The one you are living in is temporary and will soon pass away. If you handle it right, much of what you are currently doing will count for eternity and will pass from here into it. Depending on whether or not you are being selfish and self-centered, you can be doing things that Jesus will bless. If you will allow Jesus to teach you how to love and care for others, He will teach you how to invest in eternity by using His win/win system for doing what you may have already been doing. Let Jesus go over your day and establish why and how you are doing what you are doing. Then He can help you reshape your life based on what you consider to be the best place to invest your time, efforts, money, and thought processes. Ask Him to help you make the right kind of investments that will last forever. Let Him show you where He would like for you to invest your time, effort, and money so you and He can work together on them. Ask Him to take you through these devotions and teach you how to live now so as to win in eternity. 6. How Do You Handle Your Problems?
When things are going good, when you aren’t facing some big crisis or life-threatening challege, you may be pretty tuned into what Jesus wants to do together with you. But, what happens when things get scary? Do you stay in faith, trust, and reliance on Jesus and all He provides? Or, do you find yourself looking to other sources for the solutions? The REAL you shows up during difficult times. Your TRUE character and attitudes come to the surface when you are worried, fearful, afraid, and stressed. During times of stress, difficulties, crises, and trauma are perfect times for you and Jesus to take a look at your problem-solving strategies. But for now, ask Jesus to help you learn what the best way is. Ask Him to help you keep your eyes focused on Him even during good times. Let Him help you develop your relationship with Him that isn’t crisis oriented. Ask Him to help you spend just as much time with Him during good times as you do during difficult times.
