Starting Out With All The Advantages
When a person is born with a lot of talent, advantages, and opportunities, it is easy for them to believe that anything they put their hands to will happen. It isn't a faith in God; it is a self-confidence. They have a tremendous faith in their own abilities.
It is true these types of people can accomplish things in a superior way to a lot of other people. They don’t suffer from emotional struggles; they have great physical abilities; they learn things quickly; they establish relationships easily; and it seems like money is always available to them. In some cases, even religion is something that these types of people can do well, if they want to get involved in that sort of thing. They can talk well, think well, look good, have great personalities, and can buy some of the best things. If they do anything for God, it comes from their own abilities. Humility isn’t one of their strong points. |
Letting Advantages Get In The Way
A dependency on God doesn’t seem to be a need. They have most of everything they need and want. They typically don’t have to pray for anything. Life is at their fingertips. They don’t feel like they need any of God’s advice or training. All their philosophies seem to be working for them; so, they don’t see any need to replace them. If this describes your life or some of it, pray and ask Jesus to help you see the difference between your abilities and His. Let Him show you the difference between what you can accomplish and what you can accomplish through Him. Ask Jesus to help you trade what you have for what your heavenly Father has. Let the Holy Spirit show you what your life will be like, if you live your life based on your own resources. Then let Him show you what your life will be like, if you humble yourself before God and take advantage of His resources. |
