You have been invited into a special relationship with Jesus. You just spent time developing a better relationship with Him. Now you are building on that relationship with Jesus and learning how to cooperate and work with Him. Jesus does things in a VERY different way from what you have experienced in human, world training.

• Jesus’ methods are relationship based.


• They are experienced through His love for you.


• He does His work from a spiritual rather than a natural process.


• His power and solutions flow through things like faith, hope, and love.

As you move into this relationship with Jesus, you will need to allow Him to teach you things that work in your physical life and in your spiritual life. If you are open to unlearning some things and being trained in totally new things, Jesus will be able to work miracles in your issues with drugs.

Like in the case with Naaman, you need to get the precise instructions for working with Jesus. Then you need to pray and ask Jesus for His power to follow them to the letter. Also, you need to not do what Simon the sorcer did and try to mix your old life with your new one. Give up your old methods for living life and ask Jesus for His power to learn and apply His methods. Your old methods may have seemed to work quite well for you; but, it was an illusion. You weren’t succeeding; you were heading toward failure in your emotions, finances, physical health, relationships, and spiritual condition for eternity. Even if you had gained the whole world, you wouldn’t have saved your soul. Mark 8:36-37 (NIV) What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

You may be very concerned about your issues with drugs; and, you may be willing to try most anything to get the help you need. But, Jesus wants you to change that attitude and look to Him as your only hope. The reason for Jesus requiring this from you is, if you try to mix other methods with His methods, you will contaminate His work. Then when His methods are contaminated, you won’t get the results that Jesus is able to give you. This causes you to think that the reason you didn’t get the results was because Jesus’ methods didn’t work. But, the reason they didn’t work was because you contaminated His methods. There are a lot of things you have tried, believe might help, and are still thinking about trying. However, Jesus wants you to give them all up and JUST trust Him and His methods.

You spent some time looking at what God is capable of doing as you studied what He did for Naaman and Simon. When you allow God and His Bible to be the final authority in your life, you get the truth about life. Only God can truly solve your difficulties with drugs. You may experience temporary relief, moments of peace, short term solutions, and ways of working around your issue, but, only God can give you total and permanent solutions to your difficulties with drugs. Spend time praying and asking God to help you fully trust, rely, and depend on Him. He can help you relax in your relationship with Him; He can help you work together with Jesus and believe that He will bring the solutions you are looking for. As you get one breakthrough after another, your faith and trust in Jesus will grow.

Jesus said in John 16:33 (NIV): “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you WILL have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

When you were saved, born again, and became a Christian, you became a child of God. As a child of God, you became a member of God’s family and a citizen of His eternal Kingdom. The reason you were allowed to be born on this planet was so you could decide whether or not you wanted to be a child of God. Once you decided that you wanted to be born again and be born as God’s child, you inherited God as your Father and became a co-heir with Jesus. But, even though you have inherited God, His family, and His eternal Kingdom, there are a lot of things that are not good about your attitudes and character. If bad attitudes and character were allowed to go into God’s eternal Kingdom, they would damage and eventually destroy God’s Kingdom.

Gal 4:1-2 (NIV) What I am saying is that as long as THE HEIR is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father.

You immediately became an inheritor of God’s Kingdom; but, you need training by Jesus to get you ready for God’s Kingdom. In a class, the students are challenged, tested, and required to study and learn. In God’s life-classes, you face issues that are quite challenging and difficult. But, they aren’t coming your way to destroy you or defeat you. They are coming your way so as to develop your relationship with Jesus and His training. If you allow your problem with drugs to motivate you to yield to Jesus’ training and power, you will not only be victorious here in your human life, you will be prepared and made ready for living dynamically in God’s eternal Kingdom.

2 Tim 2:15 (AKJV) Study to show yourself approved to God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. No matter what you want to be trained in, you will have to study. However, if you study the wrong thing, it will NOT prepare you for reaching your goal. AND, if you are trained by someone who doesn’t know what they are talking about, you will NOT reach your goal. When you combine the Bible with Jesus and allow Him to teach you how to be successful in life, you WILL reach your goal. Jesus and the Bible are the answer to every problem, issue, and difficulty you face. If you JUST allow Jesus and the Bible to be your final authority, the pure teachings of Jesus and the pure facts of the Bible will empower you to win in life and be prepared for God’s eternal Kingdom.

2 Tim 3:16-17 (NIV) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, SO THAT the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. Not only will Jesus help you win over your problem with drugs, He will help you win in life. Through Jesus and the Bible, you are currently being thoroughly equipped for EVERY good work. If you allow your problems to motivate you to apply yourself and fully cooperate with Jesus, you will be more than conquerors through Him Who loved you (Rom 8:37). Jesus will be teaching you how to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power (Eph 6:10).

Jesus’methods not only involve love, they also deal in power. Things change without you using the regular efforts, systems, and processes that it would typically take. As you read through the Gospels, Jesus changed people’s eyes so they could see; He changed people’s mouths so they could talk; He changed people’s legs and feet so they could walk; and, He caused dead people to come alive again.

As you get more and more involved with Jesus, you have to change your expectancies. You have to embrace the supernatural or you won’t be ready for Jesus’ methods. You may be looking for Jesus to give you information that you can use in order for your problem with drugs to be taken care of. But, He is giving you instructions for how to use power-tools and THEY will make spiritual changes in you. Miracles will take place in your issue with drugs.

If Simon the sorcer had received Jesus’ power so Simon could decide who he laid hands on, he would have abused those abilities. He would have used them for his own benefits and prestige. Jesus offers His power as a gift; but, He also offers it in righteousness. Righteousness is you only doing good to all who are involved. As Jesus works on your attitudes and character, you will be able to do to others what you would have them do to you (Mat 7:12); and. you will be able to love your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:30). These two changes in your attitudes and character empower you to share your breakthroughs with others as gifts. They help you share Jesus and His power because you care about other people in an unselfish way.
