Jesus, help me understand that the feelings of pain and pressure caused by my body and my heart are their way of helping me realize I have a life-problem. The struggles coming from my difficulties with loss of a loved one are letting me know I need help; more specifically, they are are letting me know I need Your help. Sometimes I am the type of person who feels like I can solve anything and don’t need anyone’s help. The fact that I am battling with this issue and am feeling like giving up is a real confusion to me. I have never experienced defeat like this before; but, help me listen to my body and my heart and allow You to come to their rescue.

Jesus, help me accept my limitations. Help me go outside at night and take a look at the stars and allow them to be my evidence that God is bigger than me and can do a lot more than I can. Help me come to the place where I am willing to ask You for Your help. Help me transfer my faith, belief, reliance, dependency, and trust into You. Help me see that these painful feelings from loss of a loved one issues are only pointing to MY limits; they don’t apply to You. Even though I have run out of resources, strength, and happiness in myself, help me see that I haven’t exhausted all You can do. Even though I am finding out that I am NOT my answer to all my needs; make it clear to me that I am NOT finding out there is no answer. You have the character, attitudes, and power I need to look to. Help me be willing to SEE the greatness of God and the limits I and other humans have. I ask You to start teaching and training me on HOW to use tools that will set me free.

Jesus, teach me that the issues with loss of a loved one have focused my attention on certain feelings, situations, and circumstances. My eyes are focused on the greatness, the impossibility, the persistance, and the power this problem has over me. Help me get my faith, trust, and beliefs out of how big and powerful this issue is. Teach me that as long as I am looking inward at my feelings or outward at physical conditions, life events, and circumstancial issues, all I will be able to see are those things that caused my heart its fears, doubts, depression, hopelessness and pain in the first place. My faith, my heart, and my mind will be locked into these things.

Jesus, show me that I have a better source for an evaluation of my condition. Help see that with God, I am not locked into a difficult situation with loss of a loved one because of my or someone else’s diagnosis of this problem. Show me how much bigger and powerful You are in comparison to my issues. Help me get my eyes off of how big and impossible my issue with it is and help me see how big and powerful You are. But, make it clear to me that this is going to require me to give You my time and effort. I have to be willing to keep spending this time studying with You and praying to You.

Jesus, in order for me to start getting my eyes off of how big my issues are with loss of a loved one and start BELIEVING in Your power, help me open my heart to feelings of being loved. Even though it may take some time for God to change my circumstances; it may take time for Him to change my emotions; it may take time changing my finances; it may take time changing my relationships; it may take time changing my physical condition; but, show me that all of this will happen if I allow Him to change my heart. Help me see that my heart BELIEVES in the power, impossibilities, and greatness of this issue. As long as this is true, help me see that I won’t be able to BELIEVE in Your love, compassion, and power. Help me redirect my attention for a while and help me concentrate on my relationship with You. Show me how much You love me JUST AS I AM. Help me understand that my circumstances, my finances, my physical condition, and my relationships must not control my emotions. Help me have powerful emotions FROM YOU that provide me with the faith, the happiness, and the joy I need so I can face the issues of life.

Jesus, teach me that because I am God’s child, He accepts me and cares what happens to me. He care what happens to me because He is my Father. Help me forget for a few moments about about my emotional needs, my physical needs, my financial needs, my relational needs, the outside world, the people and circumstances of life, and help me simply let You talk to me about me. Help me understand that I am important to my heavenly Father; and He want me to be able to FEEL His love. Empower me to be able to accept His love for me for no other REASON than because I am His child.

Jesus, teach me that God doesn’t just HAVE love; He IS love. He doesn’t just feel a love for me; He has taken a love-action so as to demonstrate His love. You came and died for me so I could know there is no one who loves me more than You do.

Help me spend some time thinking about and accepting these truths:

• God loves me more than I love myself.


• He knows everything and can anticipate what I am going to need long before I need it.


• He is always with me and is always available to be my protection.


• He has all power and authority and can, therefore, keep bad things from happening to me.


• He knows my future and can steer me away from those things that would have hurt me.


• He has all wisdom, knowledge, and understanding and uses them to make sure I get the very best of everything.

Rom 5:5 (NIV) And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, Whom He has given us. Even if I didn’t have a very loving set of parents and don’t know how to react to love, help me just relax and allow God to pour His love into my heart. Even if I have always combined the idea of sex with the concept of love, help me let Him show me a love that doesn’t involve sex. Even if I have come from a situation where extreme or unreasonable discipline was made a part of love, help me let God show me GRACE (gifts I don’t have to earn) and MERCY (forgiveness and freedom from a punishment that I deserve to experience). Teach me that before things can get better AROUND me, they are going to have to get better INSIDE me. Show me that if I don’t allow God’s love to flood my heart, then I won’t be able to appreciate it, when things do get better around me. Teach me that internal healing will take the blue tinted glasses off of my eyes and allow me to be able to see the sunshine, when God parts the clouds for me.

Jesus, give me a life that isn’t so affected by those things around me. Help me allow You to give me a new heart that will be excited and filled with faith and love even when things start looking bad. Instead of painful and overwhelmed feelings being able to get inside me and take away my love, joy, and faith, help me use tremendous amounts of Your love, joy, and faith to defeat painful and overwhelmed feelings. Help my relationship with God become so positive and secure that I will have all the power, wisdom, understanding, and knowledge from Him for how to defeat those threatening, frustrating, derogatory, negative, and evil feelings. As I go back to looking at my issues with loss of a loved one, I won’t need to ignore them as if they don’t exist, I will be able to face them with Your healing power. Teach me that it is so much easier to win when I am filled with the love, joy, excitement, happiness, and faith I get from my heavenly Father. You and I will work together to bring me into the victorious life in God.

Jesus, teach me that the Bible not only has powerful truths that transform my life, it has wonderful examples that help me see and understand these truths. Use one of the people from centuries ago to train me because they faced the challenging issues of life like me. Thank You for making sure that the Bible contained records of some very important people’s lives. Out of all the people who have lived on this planet, thank You for handpicking some that would help me get a pictorial view of how to resist loss of a loved one issues. As I am able to see the examples of a person who put their trust in God, help me learn how to win over my struggles with feeling overwhelmed; help me follow their example. Help me see how to use the things of God to lead me into a life of faith, love, joy, happiness, and success.
