Gal 5:22-23 (NIV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. These are God’s power-emotions that are available for your heart. If you yield to them, your feelings will be empowered to motivate you and enhance your life. Emotions play a VERY imporant part in you.

In a lot of ways, your emotions control you. Your heart sends these emotions into your body and gives you positive or negative feelings. They can be mild or they can be extremely powerful. Depending on how serious the situation is, your heart can make you miserable and may even debilitate you.

1 Cor 2:14 (NIV) The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. If a person hasn’t been saved through being born again, their mind isn’t able to send any Biblical thoughts into their heart. So, the heart only gets its training from the world. It feels the way it does because it was taught world principles.

1 Cor 2:15 (NIV) The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment: Once you are born again, rather than your heart basing its emotions on human judgments, it makes them based on God’s type of emotions. This brings you into an emotional condition that is stable, good, fair, just, receptive to the truth, and teachable by truth. You won’t be damaged, controlled, misled, or influenced by lies, inadequate information, or unfounded traditions. As you allow Jesus to wash away all of your world training and fill you with His truths, healing will start to take place.

1 Cor 2:16 (NIV) For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ. Now that you have the mind of Christ, you are able to understand spiritual things. Your heart can get spiritual information because your new mind of Christ is training and influencing it with Jesus’ truths. But, before you became a Christian, you gave your heart misinformation because you were a man without the Spirit. So now, you get mixed emotions flowing from your heart into the feelings of your body because not all the world training has been removed.

Rom 12:1 (NIV) Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. This is the area you are battling with as you deal with marriage issues. Your mind, heart, and body have to be transformed by Jesus. They are sending you messages that aren’t exclusively from Jesus, the Bible, and the Holy Spirit. As long as that continues, your struggles with marriage will continue.

• Your body has animalistic desires. It is pushing you with sexual drives, selfish desires that aren’t aware of other’s needs, self-preservation to survive no matter what happens to others, and self-value that makes it feel important and is typically at other’s expense.


• Your mind has a lot of information from world training. It craves information, understanding, and instructions. It drove you into misinformation because it can’t distinguish between right or wrong, good or bad, righteous or evil; it just wants information of any kind. But, you heart accepted all your mind’s information that you put your trust in.


• Your heart has developed feelings based on the world training of your mind. It is driven by the desire to protect you at all costs. It is constantly listening to all the information from your mind and drawing conclusions as to what is good for you and what isn’t. If you believe some misinformation in your mind, it passes that trust into your heart.

Jesus wants to help you get healed in these three aspects of your life.

Rom 12:2 (NIV) Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is--His good, pleasing and perfect will.

With the assignment already presented in Romans 12:1: Offer your bodies as living sacrifices. you now have your complete mind, heart, and body assignment from God. Let Jesus break this down for you.

You have some things to do to get your life going in the right direction:

• Offer your bodies as living sacrifices.


• Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world.


• Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.


• Be able to test and approve what God’s will is--His good, pleasing and perfect will.

Rom 6:19 (NIV) I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness. Ask Jesus to empower you to start engaging, involving, and participating in reading your Bible, praying, doing devotions, attending church, doing Bible studies like this, and putting these things into practice.

Luke 11:34-35 (NIV) Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are good, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are bad, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.

Ask Jesus to empower you to stop exposing yourself to those things that are wrong, bad, or evil. Discontinue watching television programs that you wouldn’t watch if Jesus were sitting next to you. Discontinue internet exposure that you know Jesus would not approve of. Discontinue listening to music that does not honor Jesus and what He stands for. Discontinue going places that you know Jesus wouldn’t go with you. Discontinue relationships that influence you away from a close and intimate relationship with Jesus. Discontinue ANYTHING that falls into categories where you know Jesus wants you to quit them.

Mark 12:30-31 (NIV) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

This Scripture is telling you what to DO to GET a heart, mind, and body transformation; you must love God with all your heart, soul (life in your body), mind, and strength of your will. Ask Jesus to heal you in all these areas so you will be able to love God, the people around you, and yourself.

Let Jesus show you that you already have God’s love in you ready for you to yield to it: Rom 5:5 (NIV) And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out HIS LOVE into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, Whom He has given us. Ask Jesus to teach you how to yield to God’s love so you will be motivated to WANT to do those things that are pleasing to God. Once Jesus has empowered you to love with God’s love, you won’t be struggling so much with doing the right things.

Mat 6:913 (NIV) This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” Pray this prayer on a regular basis so that you have asked God for the major issues of your day. This prayer gets Jesus’ help in the most important areas of your life.
