Rom 7:22 (NIV) For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; It is very important that you understand your personal make up. You are a spirit being; you have a soul; and you live in a body. You are made up of three parts that influence you, your life, and your decisions. However, Jesus just wants to work with you concerning you, a spirit being, and you a body, for now. You may have considered your body as just being a mechanism that had no real decision making influence over you.

Rom 7:23 (NIV) But I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. As you can see, your body isn’t just a machine waiting for your commands. If you don’t accept this evaluation presented in this Scripture, you will be confused, disappointed in yourself as a Christian, and trying to get yourself fixed. But, if you will accept this Biblical principle, your approach to healing will change drastically.

Rom 7:24 (NIV) What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? You probably never saw your body as a body of death. But, if you don’t agree with the Bible, you will remain unable to win over those things that are hurting you. You and your body are not on the same page. Your body is animalistic; and is similar to the characteristics of a wolf. It has drives, urges, needs, and cravings that it is willing to satisfy in a very animalistic and self-centered way.

Assuming that you have allowed Jesus to help you accept these Biblical diagnoses, you are now ready to start heading into the procedures of healing. With a little more truths laid out for you, so you can understand what is going on inside you, you will be able to pray knowledgeably and specifically. Once your prayers are targeted and strategic, Jesus will be able to answer those types of prayers and bring powerful miracles to you.

Rom 7:18 (NIV) I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I HAVE the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. You are trying to win over your issues with guilt and something is fighting you. Let Jesus take you through this verse to help you understand what the solution has to be applied to.

I know that nothing good lives in me: This is talking about your body. It says: “lives in ME” as if your body is you. That is because you must not start thinking you lack responsibility for it. You must see it as a separate part of you; but, it will only stop hurting you and other people through you “doing what it takes” to change its behavior. But, it is confusing when I, me, and my are used to talk about your spirit and your body interchangeably. So, let Jesus help you get this sorted out; this is very important!

“Lives in ME” has to be qualified because you have the Holy Spirit living inside you. 1 Cor 6:19 (NIV) Do you not know that your BODY is a temple of the Holy Spirit, Who is IN you, Whom you have received from God? You are not your own. If you don’t understand that there are these two parts to you, then when the words I, me, and my are used, you will lump them all into one part of you. But, if you can, for this study, accept there are at least two parts to you, then you will know what is good about you and what is actually bad, but can be changed.

I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature: You need to know where your sinful nature is. Rom 7:5 (NIV) For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore fruit for death. If you are going to be healed from your guilt issues, then you must accept that the reason you are going through what you are going through has it basis flowing from your body.

For I have the desire to do what is good: You, as a spirit being, have the desire to live the victorious Christian life; but, for some reason you haven’t been able to do what is good. You haven’t been able to fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses (1 Tim 6:12). So, in order for you to fight the good fight of the faith, you must know where your enemy is so you can attack it.

If you have the desire to do what is good and you know that desire isn’t in your body, then where is it? Rom 7:22 (NIV) For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; There you are! The real you has finally been identified. And, the attitudes of the real you have been established. You delight in God’s law!

Jesus and you aren’t having a problem with guilt because of you. You and Jesus are having the problem because of your body. It has been given a voice and an expression of its animalistic desires on all humans. When Adam and Eve sinned by eating from the Tree Of The Knowledge Of Good And Evil, that fruit gave their body a powerful influence on their spirit or inner being (Genesis 3:1-11). Then as they had children, they passed that sinful nature to them. Then it went through them to all humans thereafter.

But I cannot carry it out: Why can’t you win over your struggles with guilt? Romans 7:22-23 explain why: For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; BUT, I see ANOTHER law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. Most Christians would never guess that the reason they are going through something like guilt issues was because of their body. They don’t even know that they and their body are separate.

Rom 7:22-23 (NIV) For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; BUT, I see ANOTHER law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.

• For in my inner being I delight in God’s law: This attitude you have in your spirit (inner being) is your evidence that you are a true Christian. People who call themselves Christians but aren’t, lack the want and hate of Romans 7:15. For what I WANT to do I do not do. There are three types of people who call themselves Christians who are not doing righteousness. New and untrained Christians aren’t; the new ones aren’t because they haven’t had enough time to learn how. The untrained ones aren’t because the mature Christians haven’t done their job and trained them. But, there are also a group who call themselves Christians who do not want to do righteousness and do want to sin. Even though they call themselves Christians, they fail the test of Romans 7:15.
  
  But what I HATE I do. This is the way the true Christian feels about sin. If that ever changes, run to God and ask Him to put that hatred back in your heart toward sin. The want and the hate of Romans 7:15 is vital to your healing from your issues with guilt. You may not be treating yourself, other people, and God’s plan the way you should; but, if you have a deep desire to change, that is a big requirement of God.


• BUT, I see ANOTHER law at work in the members of my body: This is what you are experiencing as you battle with guilt issues. If it doesn’t get what it wants, it will try to punish you. It will send you feelings through your heart that will cause pain and discomfort. It will try to get its own way at all costs. It doesn’t care about you, the spirit person; it doesn’t care about right and wrong; it doesn’t care about who it hurts; it doesn’t care about God or His plan. If it isn’t getting what it wants, it is willing to shut down your whole emotional, relational, financial, physical, and spiritual system.


• Making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members: The difficult and disappointing thing about your body is how much it is able to control you. It can make you a prisoner to all kinds of difficulties, struggles, and problems that you can’t seem to get rid of.
  
  Jesus, however, is asking you to join Him and start following His leadership and training. He is going to ask you to do somethings with your body that is new to you. It will take you into the spirit realm. At first, you will look at Jesus’ methods and not know what to do with them. And, even though you have already been exposed to them, they will seem foreign to you. But, don’t despair, Jesus will guide you in and through the procedures successfully.
