Your struggle with drugs is one of the biggest issues of your life. It is the thing you want to get rid of the most; and, it is the thing that Jesus wants to help you be set free from. However, it can be the most difficult issue for you to get healed from.

It is like taking a long journey; you will have to make a lot of turns, get on a lot of different highways and streets, have to stop to take care of various physical needs, and handle any errors in the decisions you make. Every step of the way, as long as you don’t make any wrong turns, you will be making progress. As long as you don’t give up on the trip, turn around, and go home, you will end up at your destination. That is the way it is with Jesus and His studies.

Getting healed from the difficulties of drugs is going to take some time and a lot of studying. But, your studying will be like driving to a destination, it will be taking you where you want and need to go. You will need to be patient; and you will need to allow Jesus to take you where you need to go.

If you had a disease that was threatening your life, but you had a doctor who could cure you, you would have to be willing to do what they said. If you failed to follow their advice and failed to allow them to do what they needed to do, you would delay or maybe even keep them from saving your life. But, if you WANTED to be cured BAD ENOUGH you would allow them to do things you normally wouldn’t allow anyone to do to you.

If you had a disease, the disease would CAUSE you to enter into an obedience and trust relationship with your doctor; that would help you cooperate and possibly save your life. If your problem with drugs leads you into believing Jesus is trustworthy and is your best friend, you will follow His leadership and yield to His requirements. AND, in doing so, your problem would be turned into one of the best things that could have ever happened to you. Because you DESIRED to be healed, you got to know Jesus on a level you never would have. Had you not had the problem, you might have refused to apply yourself like you are now.

At first you may respond to Jesus with a trial and error method. It may take some failures and some successes before you learn that you only get breakthroughs when you are obeying and trusting Him. But, because you DESIRE to be helped by Him, you keep on pressing forward into better and better spiritual skill.

Jesus won’t punish you for refusing or failing to follow His directions. Just like refusing or failing to obey and trust your doctor will cause you to suffer from the disease that is trying to kill you, so will refusal or failure to follow Jesus’ directions cause you the pain that drugs issues create in you. But, if you understand that it isn’t Jesus punishing you, you will dislike the pain enough to CHOOSE TO turn to Him as your solution.
