Gal 5:22-23 (NIV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Jesus, help me learn to yield to God’s power-emotions that are able to help me approach the issues of life with excitement. Help me see that most people are searching everywhere trying to find happiness. They buy things, do things, marry people, establish relationships, and pursue extreme pleasure trying to find happiness. However, teach me that with the fruit of the Spirit, I will go into every situation of life with happiness already in my heart.

Gal 4:6 (NIV) Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.” Jesus, let this relationship with the Holy Spirit lead me into a special relationship with my heavenly Father. Help me always go about my day knowing that I am a child of God. Let this elevate who I am so I don’t try to become someone important through some other accomplishment. Prove to me that there is no other position in all of existence greater than being a child of God. With this knowledge and with God’s power-emotions, help me be able to face some of my most difficult situations with excitement already in my heart.

Eph 1:18-19a (NIV) I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the HOPE to which He has called you, the RICHES of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great POWER for us who believe. Jesus, empower me to go about life knowing and feeling the hope, riches, and power of God so that it changes my attitudes. Help me not try to be someone, do something important, find something or someone to make me happy, help know I already have joy that is greater than any happiness in the world. Let God’s power-emotions upgrade my expectations, my goals, my attitudes, my personality, my relationships, and my accomplishments.

John 15:11 (NIV) I have told you this so that MY JOY may be IN you and that your joy may be complete. Jesus, teach me that happiness is based on what is happening around me. If I experience something good, IT MAKES me happy. But, if it turns out to not be all that great for me, THAT MAKES me unhappy. Help me understand that Joy stays with me no matter what happens. Empower me to yield to Your joy so I will feel an emotion that is much more powerful than happiness. And, make clear to me that it doesn’t leave me when I face a crisis and need to face it with determination, excitement, confidence, and positive attitudes.

Jesus, help me see that if I am looking for happiness, I will be spending the rest of my life trying to find it. If I start a career, I hope it will produce happiness. When it doesn’t, it gets hard to go on from there. If I establish a relationship, I hope that person will make me happy. When they don’t, I am disappointed in them; they were supposed to have made me happy. But, show me that if I already have happiness and go into situations, relationships, and circumstances, they don’t disappoint me because I already HAVE what I was looking for.

Jesus, if someone walks up to me in a store and asks, “May I help you?” someone is paying them to ask me that. Show me that for the large part, people are like a bunch of sharks in the water swimming around looking for something or someone to meet their needs. But, help me put my faith in this principle: Phil 4:19 (NIV) And my God will meet ALL YOUR needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Jesus, You have made me different; I am no longer having to spend all my time trying to get my needs met; You are empowering me to go out and meet the needs of others.

• Mat 11:28 (NIV) Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Jesus, I went to You and You put me in touch with my heavenly Father Who is meeting all my needs.


• Luke 6:38 (NIV) Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Jesus, I learned that by going around helping others get their needs met; God automatically sees to it, ALL my needs are met.


• Phil 4:8 (NIV) Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Jesus, I have given my thought-life over to You where I am concentrating on all those things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. This moves me into those activities of life that lift up me and all the people around me.

And now, not only is my thought life extremely positive, exciting, and filled with faith, my emotions are lifted up through God’s power emotions.

Jesus, now that You are doing a great work in my life, when I ask someone: “May I help you?” I really mean it! I know that MY God will meet ALL MY needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. I am no longer like a shark going around trying to get things and people to meet my needs; they are already met. I am now able to go around helping all those people with all of their needs. Since most everyone else is busy looking for their needs to be met, I will be very unique. People will be looking for my hidden agenda, my angle, my game, or my scheme. But, because I am honest, sincere, and transformed by You, they will soon find out that I am real.
