Mat 5:3 (NIV) Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Jesus, get me ready for when I become poor in spirit and You start teaching me how I SHOULD have lived. Mat 5:4 (NIV) Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Prepare me for when I get God’s power-attitude of mourning and it deals with the fact that I am filled with world training things that are totally wrong and I must get rid of them.

Jesus, help understand that I need God’s power-attitudes in order to win over my issues with drugs. But, I can find myself feeling worse than I was before I started this study. Help me see that if I don’t find out how to feel about myself and my problems, Satan and my self-esteem will hurt me. Make it clear to me that the solutions are wonderful, powerful, and a real blessing that is coming my way. But, I need to be able to properly receive the treatment that brings the healing.

Jesus, make this clear to me: John 15:5c (NIV) “Apart from Me you can do nothing.” If I am heavy into self-esteem and self-confidence rather than God-esteem and God-confidence, that Scripture may offend me. But, show me that if I will give up believing in myself, believing in my human reasoning and effort, and trusting in world training, I will find Your statement to be a real comfort to me. You will take all the pressure off of me. You will show me a way to live my life through You and Your power.

Mat 7:7 (NIV) ASK and it will be given to you; SEEK and you will find; KNOCK and the door will be opened to you. Jesus, teach me that prayer is one of the most important procedures in all of Christianity. Since I am facing drugs issues and many other challenges during my day, help me see that if I just try to figure it out using my brain, some other human’s brain, or try to use some system I have seen others use, I won’t grow spiritually. I will be putting my faith in world training and human effort.

Jesus, You are wanting to work on my spiritual growth, my power, my training, and my successes. When I face a problem, if I will simply address You in my mind, that will get You involved. Teach me that the fact that I put my question and issue before You means I just invited You into the situation. You will cause Your brilliant ideas to pop up in my head. You will make Yourself available to me so I can start having You surround me with Your provisions.

Jesus, help me realize that You are not only teaching me to ASK You for each issue of life, You are introducing me into the procedures for winning over my struggles with drugs. Help me see that drugs issues present a much bigger challenge than most of the other problems I have. So, You are helping me win over many of the other, smaller challenges so as to show me that what You are teaching me works. Make it clear to me that as I get better trained, experienced, skilled, and equipped, all these victories over these smaller issues will lead me right into total victory over my struggles with drugs.

Prov 3:5-6 (AKJV) Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Jesus, sometimes I get great pleasure from doing something “all by myself.” Sometimes I get so much reward from it that I wouldn’t even consider inviting You into my project. Sometimes I will think, research, experiment, and give it my very best efforts. But, if I fail, I often am very disappointed, discouraged, and sometimes feel like I not only failed, I feel like I AM a failure.

Jesus, since you helped me get to the place where I am able to accept help, I have discovered You and Your supernatural help. Help me see that You not only accomplish the task that I needed done, You fulfill it in a way that NO ONE could have done it that well. Teach me that this builds my faith in You so You can take me all the way into total victory over drugs issues.

Jesus, teach me that in self-esteem and self-confidence, I get my rewards, value, and pleasure from feeling good about myself. And, I am only able to feel good about myself through people’s acceptance or self-acceptance. If I or other people say I am valuable and good, then that is my evaluation of myself. But, if I fail to live up to my or other people’s expectations, I, my esteem and confidence, and my wellbeing with others drops. But, make it clear to me that with You, I am not what I do; I am not what I think about myself; I am not who others say I am; and, I am not open for evaluation.

Jesus, it is possible that I have never experienced acceptance based on a relationship. I may have had someone accept me because I am a member of their family, their company, or their group of friends. But, help me see that I will never experience a relational acceptance like I get from God. Help me realize that He has some sincerity requirements; but, if I sincerely WANT to live a righteous life and sincerely want to give up all bad and evil behavior, He will accept me with a supernatural love. Empower me to do that!

Isa 44:24 (NIV) This is what the LORD says-- your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb: “I am the LORD, who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself.”

Jesus, it isn’t easy for me to go from believing in myself to putting my full trust in God. I have been having to depend on myself for so much for so long. As I have gone about life, I haven’t noticed all the things God has provided me. Help me always remember that all the things I am surrounded with including my body came from Him. Help me start looking at it that way. I now pray and ASK God to help me see that all things that exist have come from Him. I am here because He made that possible.

Mat 7:11 (NIV) If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your FATHER in heaven give good gifts to those who ASK Him! Jesus, take me on a journey into a trust and reliance on God. Let me receive help from Him and a relationship with Him. Teach me that the more I depend on Him, the more He does for me. The more He does for me, help me see that causes me to learn to love and appreciate Him more. Teach me that this builds a loving relationship with my heavenly Father.

Mark 12:30 (NIV) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Jesus, help me always be aware of the fact that my heavenly Father is trying to build such a relationship with me that this love pours out of my heart. Show me that God isn’t having a hard time loving me; He demonstrated this before I even thought about coming to Him. Rom 5:8 (NIV) But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Show me that the struggle is with me; He is reaching out to me so I will trust Him enough to let Him develop this love relationship.
