Rom 7:22 (NIV) For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; Jesus, teach me that I am a spirit being; I live in a body; and, I have a soul. As a spirit being, I delight in God’s law. Teach me that, that happened to me when I was born again through salvation. Help me understand that I am struggling with drugs because my body didn’t get saved, born again, become a Christian, or become a child of God. It isn’t even going to be allowed to enter into God’s eternal Kingdom. 1 Cor 15:50 (NIV) I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

1 Cor 15:51-53 (NIV) Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we WILL be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. Jesus, teach me that my body I am now wearing will be changed into a new, GLORIFIED body. It will go from being perishable to imperishable; it will go from being mortal to immortality. So, make it clear to me that I must understand that my body currently needs some powerful treatment.

Rom 7:23 (NIV) But I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. Jesus, this helps me see that my body situation is not good! There have been times when I had thoughts, feelings, and desires that were evil. I was surprised that I was able to think such evil things. Teach me that the fact is, I didn’t originate that thought. Satan presented the thought to my body and it felt like it was a good idea. It was receptive because of the satanic promise of extreme pleasure through the activity. Make it VERY clear that I delight in God’s law! My body doesn’t.

Rom 7:24 (NIV) What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Jesus, now that I am looking to You, I am opening myself to the only One Who can handle this body of death. You will show me the procedures for bringing it under Your and my control. Since I am starting to see myself and my body as two different intities, it is helping me do what it takes to bring spiritual growth to my spirit. And, You are empowering me to do what it takes to win over the weaknesses and sinfulness of my body. Help me see that just learning this one thing will make a major difference in my success over the drugs issue.

Rom 7:25 (NIV) Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin. Jesus, help me understand that there is good slavery; and, there is bad slavery. Typically all slavery sounds bad to me; but, help me see that slavery to God’s law is being done with my God-give free will still intact. Teach me that slavery to the law of sin is a loss of my God-given free will. By ALLOWING myself to be brought under the complete control of the things of God, that will be the best ongoing decision I will ever make.

Jesus, help me understand this illustration: It is like a vacuum cleaner that has to be plugged in so that it has power to function. As long as it is plugged in, it can BE a vacuum cleaner; but, the moment I unplug it, it stops working. Help me understand this about the things of God. You will not be able to give me Your power as a personal possession. I will only be empowered to win over my issues with drugs for as long as I am connected to You. Help me see that if You gave humans Your power, they would hurt themselves and those around them. It would be like allowing a little child drive a car without supervision.

Jesus, You are the Creator of the universe: Mat 28:18 (NIV) Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Teach me that this is the power I will be using to win over my struggles with drugs. But, I will be doing it under Your supervision.

• John 15:1 (NIV) “I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener. Jesus, help me better understand this example; show me that You are using a grape vine having branches with clusters of grapes on them. In this example, You are the vine I am connected to; I am a branch that is connected to You. I get my nurishment and power from being connected to You.



• John 15:2a (NIV) He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit. Jesus, teach me that those people who don’t allow You to set them free from the sins of their body don’t bear fruit. Show me that fruit is the product of a healthy Christian life; it is a Christian who is influencing the people around them into a relationship with You. Because of the blessings, healings, miracles, and transformation in the Christian’s life, the people around them want what they have. The people who come to You through the lives of these successful Christians are considered to be fruit.



• John 15:2b (NIV) While every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. Jesus, I am coming to You to not only be set free from sins that hurt me and the people around me, I am coming to You to live the victorious Christian life. I am allowing You to teach and train me by using my struggles with drugs as an example of how to win over everything that is hurting me. Help me see that as I learn the Biblical procedures for getting these things done in my life, I will be able to pass them on to the people around me. Then they start living the victorious Christian life. THAT IS FRUIT!



• John 15:4 (NIV) Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me.
  
  Jesus, help me understand that just like a branch would die if disconnected from the vine, I lose all my power, my successes, my healings, and my victories if I disconnect from You. All Christians have to learn that they are not their answer; and, they are not other people’s answer. As I learn that I would have never been able to set myself free, I must make it clear to others that I DIDN’T set myself free. Teach me that humility isn’t me running myself down; it is me being honest enough to let people know WHO did this incredible work in my life.



• John 15:5 (NIV) “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. Jesus, as You take me through these studies and prayers, help me be working on an intimate relationship with You. Let You and I be doing more and more together. Let me be yielding to the flow of Your blessings, healing, power, and love. Let me be learning how to remain connected to You all day long. As that happens, help me see that I will be gaining the benefits of REMAINING in You.
