Understanding The Solution
To Spirituality Issues Part 2

Poor In Spirit
Being poor in spirit is somewhat like being teachable; but, being poor in spirit is only receptive to the truth of God and His Word. Just being teachable can make you open to misinformation, lies, deception, and evil concepts; it can make you gulible. This power-attitude of God protects you from those things that would hurt you while leading you into those truths that empower you and set you free from all your past world training.

A Prayer For Being Poor In Spirit
1. I Am Letting God Know I Want It
Jesus is going to be taking you through a prayer from Psalm 25 and using some of its concepts to assist you in praying and giving God permission to help you be poor in spirit. It will be a prayer where you ask Him to help you get healed from your difficulties with spirituality. You are acknowledging that you need to be poor in spirit so as to be able to be trained, helped, and healed.

2. I Am Making It My Prayer
Just read the bolded words and shape them into a prayer to your heavenly Father. Pray them straight from your heart and He will hear and help you with being poor in spirit.

Psalm 25:1-2 (NIV) [A prayer] of David:

To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul; in You I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies
(my issues with spirituality) triumph over me.

3. I Am Identifying My Enemy
To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul: Shape your prayer to lift your soul up to God. In You I trust, O my God: Structure your prayer so as to demonstrate how much you trust God for the solution to your struggles with spirituality. Don’t forget to ask Him to help you with being poor in spirit so you will be able to trust Him more.

Since your enemy is your spirituality issue, you might try something like this: “To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul; in You I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my issues with spirituality triumph over me. Make me poor in spirit so I can trust You more.”

4. I Am Letting Hope Be My Door Into God
Psalm 25:3 (NIV) No one whose hope is in You will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous (guilty of betrayal or deception) without excuse.

You will need to develop your prayer by taking your own situation and fitting it into the words of this verse. No one whose hope is in You will ever be put to shame: Is there some doubt as to whether or not God is going to let you suffer, fail, remain unhelped, and filled with shame? But they will be put to shame who are treacherous (guilty of betrayal or deception) without excuse. If you believe Jesus has forgiven you of all your sins, then compare, who He has made you with this group of people. Is this last group representive of you or the first group who have their hope in God? See what you and Jesus can do to bring this verse into a prayer from your heart.

No one whose hope is in You will ever be put to shame, but they will be put to shame who are treacherous (guilty of betrayal or deception) without excuse.

5. I Am Learning New Ways Of Praying
Psalm 25:4-5 (NIV) Show me Your ways, O LORD, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.

Are you tired of your own ways? Are you tired of letting the world and other humans direct your life and try to fix your problems? Then you are ready to develop a prayer that is based on “Show me Your ways, O LORD.” Have you tried teachings that sent you down a path that didn’t help? If so, are you ready for Jesus to TAKE you down His path to healing? Then you are ready to structure a prayer that incorporates, teach me Your paths.

Have you been misled, fooled, taught powerless principles, and charged for worthless concepts for long enough? Then pray in your own words to Jesus and ask Him to guide me in Your truth and teach me. Through your own prayer, tell Jesus that, You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long. See what you and Jesus can do to bring this verse into a prayer for you.

Show me Your ways, O LORD, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.

6. I Am Appealing To The Gift Of Mercy
Psalm 25:6 (NIV) Remember, O LORD, Your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.

You need God to not only remember His mercy and love for you, you need to remember it yourself. Make a prayer that expresses you faith in God’s mercy and love. And, ask Him to help you to always keep it in mind. Let Jesus guide you in expressing your heart through this verse.

Remember, O LORD, Your great mercy and love, for they are from of old.

7. My Past Is Getting Jesus’ Forgiveness
Psalm 25:7 (NIV) Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to Your love remember me, for You are good, O LORD.

If you think of any specific events in your past, it would be good to ask for God’s forgiveness. Repent of all that He brings into your mind. Then make it a general prayer asking Him to, Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways. If you think of other specific events in your past that you feel you should repent of, get it done as soon as possible.

Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to Your love remember me, for You are good, O LORD.
