In a very real sense, God’s Kingdom has entered into you. That may not make a lot of sense right now; but, God’s Kingdom is being created by adding one person at a time. It is easy to see that God’s Kingdom is only going to be as great as the people who live there. If there are murderers, thieves, cheats, liars, and bullies there, then it is going to be a lot like what we have here on earth. No one wants to join a kingdom where there are wars, pain, suffering, and people taking unfair advantage of one another.

God is in the process of setting you free from attitudes, thinking, feelings, and deeds that hurt you, other people, and God’s plans for His Kingdom. To be an asset to God’s Kingdom and all the people around you, you are going to need to allow your heavenly Father to start changing many things about your character and attitudes. You can’t change these things in you; but God can and will. As you pray something like, let Your Kingdom attitudes and character come into me; I want to be an asset to Your Kingdom now, it will happen to you.

When you say, Your Kingdom come, you are asking God to not only put His Kingdom in your heart and life, you are asking Him to put His attitudes and character in you too. It is His attitudes and character that make His family and Kingdom such a wonderful thing to belong to. You are being trained into how to live in God’s Kingdom. The more God’s Kingdom attitudes and character enter into you, the more power He can trust you with.

Each day, as you pray this prayer, you are giving God permission to put inside you more and more of the things His family and Kingdom stand for. Just look at the world around you; the world in general and the individual people around you are struggling because of all the sin and evil they are doing to one another. This war has been taking place in your heart and life. You have felt bad things toward others and you have experienced bad things from others.

You are now ready to ask God to bring His Kingdom into the hearts and lives of all the people around you. This keeps your prayer from being a selfish prayer; it becomes a prayer for you and everyone else. This is teaching you to always want everyone you know, to receive all the good things that happen to you. Plus, as you continue to use the words “our” and “us” rather than “my” and “me,” you are helping to improve the world around you.

The more God influences those around you, as you pray for yourself and them, the better they will be able to treat you. The more you give these things to others, the more God blesses you for it. Church is where we and our friends get together and help each other learn how to live Kingdom living out. We learn how to live it out in the world where others need God’s Kingdom to come into them.

This prayer is helping you include others in it. This invites the presence and power of God into the lives of others. God wants you to be used to pray wonderful things into the lives of other people. We can see the importance of praying for bad situations in other people’s lives. We pray for them when they get sick, have relational or financial difficulties. But, we can fail to pray for these Kingdom attitudes and character to come into them. When we pray and God starts changing their attitudes and character, they not only get freed from bad things, they get blessed with good things.
