There are five wills that you are having to deal with every day. And, in the fifth will, which is other people, there are a whole lot of wills trying to be exerted on you. This makes you feel the pressure from a lot of other, outside influences, and that can be overwhelming. However, the Bible condenses all these wills down to just one. God wants you to be able to separate yourself from all wills that are trying to hurt you. This will help you be free, be relaxed, not be overwhelmed, and be able to make your own decisions. So, let’s reduce all these wills down to just one.

Rom 7:22-23 (NIV) For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. There are two wills inside you; there is your will and there is the will or desires of your body. If you don’t realize this, it will be very confusing to you. It gets confusing when you find yourself WANTING to do something and yet NOT WANTING to do it at the same time. You can even find yourself doing things you don’t want to do. How is that possible?

For in my inner being I delight in God’s law: Once you were born again, your inner being became your door into identifying with God. This inner being is actually the real you; it is a spirit being. And, as a spirit being, you have a mind, a heart, and a God-given free will. You never die; you have the ability to hear from God; and, you are the one making the final decisions of your life.

But I see another law at work in the members of my body: You live in a body; it is animalistic, has needs, has drives, has survival techniques, and is the door into being able to hear from Satan. The world makes sense to your body; eternity, God’s Kingdom, and God’s family make sense to your spirit.

Your spirit-will and your body-will make their decisions as to what you and your body want. As you are exposed to thoughts and feelings inside yourself, and as you are exposed to ALL KINDS of voices outside you, there are actually only three issues you have to make a decision on. Are they neutral, are they good, or are they bad. If you can take ALL the influences that are coming at you and put them in these three categories, you won’t be overwhelmed by all the opinions, “opportunities,” and demands that are being made on your life.

Neutral, good, or bad are interpreted differently by your body. If you allow your body to influence your decisions, you will be thinking about MY creature comforts, MY physical pleasure, MY future security, MY financial resources, MY sexual gratifications, and MY companionship. Your body, the world, and the devil all think these things are GOOD. You won’t think about these things as it relates to right or wrong, good or bad, righteous or evil. You will see things from a self-centered perspective, not from how these things will affect others. You will USE people and LOVE money, possessions, positions, power, prestige, popularity, pleasure, and accomplishments; this will be because you will see these THINGS as good.

There is an awareness that you are going to exist forever somewhere. There is a youthfulness that you feel no matter how old you get. This is because the spirit-you never ages. As you get older, your spirit goes right on dreaming about doing things your body can no longer do. Jesus put it this way: “The spirit is willing, but the body is weak” (Mat 26:41b).”

If you allow the spirit-you to influence your decisions, you will be thinking about life after death; you will have an eternal perspective. You will want to live this life with goals, plans, skills, wisdom, and success that set you up for eternal life, Kingdom living, and a great relationship with your heavenly Father. You will USE money, possessions, positions, power, prestige, popularity, pleasure, and accomplishments and LOVE people; this will be because you see relationships as being good.

John 10:10a (NIV) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy: The MOTIVES of the devil and the world are wrong, bad, and evil. The devil uses lies, temptations, deception, misleading, and pressure to steal and kill and destroy you. The world is trained and motivated by Satan’s procedures and techniques. Your body is foolish enough to trust, look to, and want to get involved with the devil and the world. It sees what they offer and likes what it sees. But, what the world has to offer is like a baited trap that an animal is lured into. Bait has a good thing that is used to lure your body into wrong, bad, and evil traps.

John 10:10b (NIV) I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full: Jesus’ MOTIVES are to do right, good, and righteous things to you and to help you do them to others. He uses truth, grace, mercy, love, transformation, power, and eternal life. If you resist the desires of your body, you close the door to the world and the devil. If you yield to the desires of your spirit, you open the doors to Jesus and the things of God.

If you are just wanting to get a victory in one certain area of your life, or, you are asking for God to join all of His will to all of your will for all of your heart and life, then say these words: “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” He will know which type of help you want and answer your prayer. Now ask for God’s will to be done in all the earth by saying: “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
