Rom 1:18 (NIV) The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress The Truth by their wickedness.

Wickedness suppresses The Truth. Myths, fantasy, fiction, and falsehood are used to create a pretend world with pretend rules and pretend results. This is where many in Hollywood live. A lot of their lives are in major chaos as they live godless, wicked lives. Yet, the fake glamour, fake fun, fake happiness, and fake success continue to infiltrate our homes through the media. We are constantly hearing about the destruction of their marriages, families, and lives. Yet people still worship them and the lives they live. This is the kind of wickedness that suppresses The Truth. We can put the belt of truth on by not listening, watching, being entertained, and being trained by such lies.

John 3:20-21 (NIV) Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what He has done has been done through God. We don’t have to pretend, fantasize, wish on a star, live in a dream world, or bury ourselves in fictional material. The Truth will take our real lives and make them miraculous. Satan is currently pounding hard against this piece of the armor of God. Our generation is spending a lot of time living in the lie of worshipping the creation rather than the Creator. Keeping this piece of armor on can be a real challenge if we don’t put our total trust in Jesus.

Gal 2:20 (NIV) I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me. We can see where the power to put on our belt of truth comes from. Jesus is willing to provide us with His abilities, His power, His skills, and His knowledge. The way to open our lives up to Him actually doing this is by means of faith. The concept of faith is also expressed as trust, reliance, and dependency on the Son of God. “Faith in the Son of God” is also clearly expressed in the word “remain.” Let’s look at a good example of how remain works.

John 15:5 (NIV) I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing. John 15:7 (NIV) If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.

Vines only stay alive as long as they are connected to the branch. The sap flows from the branch to the vine keeping it alive. The moment it is cut off, the life giving nutrients stop flowing. That is the way the belt of truth works. Jesus’ truth flows into us as the belt of truth. When we REMAIN in Jesus, we are putting the belt of truth on and keeping it on. We just have to allow Jesus’ words to remain in us. The word “remain” helps us see how attached we have to be to Jesus and what the Bible says. It is a permanent trust, reliance, and dependence on Him and His Word. We are always looking to Him and the Bible for guidance, empowerment, and protection. That is what remaining looks like; and, that is what keeping the belt of truth on looks like.

Let’s say you have a business deal that requires “a little” lying or misleading someone. Jesus wants us to know that, if this deal is something good for us, we won’t have to lie or mislead. If the deal can’t come together without deception, then we know it will hurt us in the long run. EVERY area where we use world principles to get something, will ALWAYS end up hurting us in the long run. Remaining in Jesus by applying Bible principles all day long brings great success because it protects us with the belt of truth. It is the process of us keeping our belt of truth on moment by moment and issue by issue.
