Our Father In Heaven

Our
Pray This Prayer For Others
Eph 1:15-20 (NIV) For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know THE HOPE to which He has called you, THE RICHES of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His INCOMPARABLY GREAT POWER for us who believe. That power is like the working of His mighty strength, which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms.

Praying For Others Blesses You
BIBLICAL PRINCIPLE: Luke 6:38 (NIV) Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” The “our,” “us,” and “we” words in The Lord’s Prayer are to bring the kind of attitude found in Ephesians 1:15-20 into your prayer time. You aren’t just in your prayer time to pray for yourself, you have a whole family of believers to be praying for. Every Christian you hear about needs to become a part of your prayers. If the above prayer becomes something you include in the “our,” “us,” and “we” words in your prayer time, then you can see what kind of results they will start getting in their spiritual growth.

The Three Heart Checks
1. Is This Your Sincere DESIRE?
Mat 7:12 (NIV) So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Phil 2:4 (NIV) Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. At this point in the prayer we need to stop and ask God if we really do care about everyone else being included as God’s children. Read Ephesians 1:15-20 and see if this is what you desire for everyone, everywhere. When we include others through The Lord’s Prayer by using the words “our,” “us,” and “we,” is our heart concerned just as much about them as we care about ourselves?

2. Is This Your Sincere NEED?
Heb 10:25 (NIV) Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Mat 18:19-20 (NIV) Again, I (Jesus) tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in My name, there am I with them.” Do you have a strong desire to be a part of a Christian group? Do you feel a need to pray together, worship together, share together, and work together? Does the “our,” “us,” and “we” in The Lord’s Prayer touch a community and family need in your heart?
3. Is This How You Sincerely FEEL?
Eph 1:15-20 (NIV) For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. Do you want the people you are including in your time of praying The Lord’s Prayer to get to know God better? Do you want them to receive those things God is giving you? Do you want them to be blessed with those things you are asking God for in your life?

Father in heaven
Love-Power At Salvation
Rom 5:5b (NIV) God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, Whom He has given us. You, at this point in your prayer, need to pause and allow the love you have received from the Holy Spirit, at the moment of salvation, to be used. Let it be used so you can FEEL this close, intimate feeling of love for your Father in heaven. At first you may need to say, “MY Father in heaven,” over and over again until the Holy Spirit helps your heart open up and start feeling the closeness of the relationship you have with Him.

Love-Power In Sonship
Rom 8:15 (NIV) For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” Abba: a term of tender endearment by a beloved child – i.e. in an affectionate, dependent relationship with their father. You received the Spirit of sonship so you could feel this special attachment and relationship with your heavenly Father; sonship is a love relationship.

Love-Power For Your Relationship With God
Mark 12:30 (NIV) LOVE the Lord your God with ALL your heart and with ALL your soul and with ALL your mind and with ALL your strength. In Romans 5:5, the Bible explains that the Holy Spirit gave you GOD’S LOVE so you have the power to fulfill Mark 12:30. From that time on, you have been learning how to take advantage of having that kind of powerful love. This makes you able to love with a love that is greater than any other form of love.

A Love-Power Prayer
At this moment in your prayer, yield to God’s love-power and feel a great affection for your heavenly Father. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God’s love-power has made you able to feel a great affection for Him. Once you can feel the effect of your mouth’s confession and your heart’s belief, go ahead and say: “Our Father in heaven.”
