The SEEK Key
Submitting Your Mind To Jesus Through Intensity
Whether it is The Six Biblical Principles or anything else in you life, ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK make them work. Even though ASK is a prayer, it is needed when you apply the PRAY principle in The Six Biblical Principles. Otherwise you will PRAY; but, you will not be praying through Jesus’ guidance, power, and wisdom. Once you have gotten used to ASKING before you do anything, that will help you be ready to add the SEEK dimension to everything you do. You will start ASKING Jesus to empower you to get the intensity of the SEEK key. You will look to Jesus for passion, determination, commitment, and enthusiasm.
SEEK
How Much?
Do you DESIRE to submit your thoughts to Jesus? To what degree, how intense, and with what determination do you want to submit your thoughts to Jesus? Even the ASK key is influenced by the SEEK key. If you are ASKING Jesus to empower you to DESIRE to submit your thoughts to Him, you could be ASKING casually. You could be saying, “it would be nice, if You would empower me with DESIRE to submit my thoughts to You.” Or, you could be saying, “PLEASE JESUS, empower me with the DESIRE to submit my thoughts to You!” Jesus really cares about how intense your heart and MIND are engaged in an issue.
Jesus’ Purpose Of Reasoning With You
The first part of Matthew 7:7-11 simply explains how ASK, SEEK, and KNOCK work. Mat 7:7-8 (NIV) ASK and it will be given to you; SEEK and you will find; KNOCK and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who ASKS receives; he who SEEKS finds; and to him who KNOCKS, the door will be opened. Jesus could have stopped here with the explanation. He didn’t have to go beyond these two verses and reason with you. He doesn’t have to try to convince you of how important they are. But, Jesus and His Bible will often spent time trying to create an intense desire in you for those things He is talking to you about. So, Jesus went on to verses 9-11 and tried to help intensify this truth in you.

Mat 7:9-11 (NIV) Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much MORE will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask Him! As Jesus reasons with you here, it gives you an opportunity to go beyond just the facts. You can KNOW that if you ASK it WILL be given to you. That can build faith in you concerning Jesus responding to your requests. But, Jesus wants that faith to produce a powerful BELIEVING in you. He wants you to BELIEVE with great intensity.
Submitting Your Mind Through Reasoning
Even though you can’t reason with your heart, you can provide it with logic from your MIND. Your heart understands degrees of intensity. It can have a mild feeling about something; or, it can have a passionate feeling about something. If you allow the Bible to give you OVERWHELMING proof about a Biblical truth, that will help your heart accept it more passionately. Another thing that influences your heart through your MIND is, REPETITION. If you keep exposing your MIND to Jesus and the Bible, His truths will repeatedly keep flowing through your MIND into your heart. Jesus will use that Biblical repetition to change and intensify the feelings of your heart.
Submitting Your Mind Through Proof
As you read the Bible and as you allow Jesus to take you through these studies and prayers, you will get more and more proof. The first exposure to proof will help your MIND get a mild conviction that it is true. But, as the Bible and your study of it keeps giving you more and more proof, you MIND and your heart start to BELIEVE with greater and greater intensity. The more you allow the Bible and Jesus to reason with you, the more conviced, committed, dedicated, and stable you will become as a Christian. This is you applying the SEEK key to your life.
