Mat 25:31-36 (NIV) WHEN the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He WILL sit on His throne in heavenly glory. All the nations WILL be gathered before Him, and He WILL separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He WILL put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left.

Then the King WILL say to those on His right, “Come, you who are blessed by My Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited Me in, I needed clothes and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you came to visit Me.” Let’s look at the Scriptures that help us take advantage of the helmet of salvation so we will be able to live this kind of life.

The helmet of salvation helps us unite with the mind of Christ: 1 Cor 2:16 (NIV) For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ. This doesn’t mean we will think everything Jesus thinks and feels. It means we can think these things if we will yield to Jesus. 1 Cor 2:14 (NIV) The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. We have gone from this condition to being able to know, understand, and apply Jesus’ teachings; this came by us getting the mind of Jesus.

Luke 6:46 (NIV) Why do you call Me, “Lord, Lord,” and do not do what I say? With the helmet of salvation the thoughts and feelings of Jesus pour into us; but, Jesus wants His truths to transform our life. He wants us to live principles that empower us to live it and teach others how to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, befriend strangers, clothe those needing clothing, and visit the sick and imprisoned. If we yield to Jesus and His principles by wearing our helmet of salvation, then we will know how help everyone get their needs met for the rest of their lives. And, we will know how to teach others to do the same. In other words, we will all be living it.

The helmet of salvation helps us do the right thing: 1 Cor 7:37 (NIV) But the man who has settled the matter in his own mind, who is under no compulsion but has control over his own will, and who has made up his mind not to marry the virgin--this man also does the right thing. If a person can make the right decisions on marriage, business, friendships, conflicts, problems, and circumstances, they win at life. This happens when a person has the truths of God flowing into their mind and heart through the helmet of salvation.

The helmet of salvation helps us live in peace with others: 2 Cor 13:11 (NIV) Finally, brothers, good-by. Aim for perfection, listen to my appeal, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. The world’s system puts us in conflict with most of the people around us. We argue and fight with the people we love the most. Why? Because we find ourselves in competition with them over ideas, plans, decisions, injustices, and positions. When we aren’t having conflict, we are able to work together, support each other, plan together, be a team, be organized, and have unified goals.

The helmet of salvation protects and delivers us from worldly thinking: Phil 3:19 (NIV) Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. When everything we do keeps falling apart, deteriorating, having to be done again, and keeps running into opposition, we enter into a rat race that enslaves us to a monetary system that dominates our lives. But, when we move into Jesus’ world, we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose (Rom 8:28).

Phil 4:19 (NIV) And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Those whose mind is on earthly things, don’t get the Romans 8:28 and Philippians 4:19 way of marriage, business, friendships, circumstances, and results. No wonder the things of world training and effort don’t work. They don’t get the wisdom, information, power, and relationship with God. Those who have their helmet of salvation on, have this incredible flow from God into their mind; no wonder they all get all their needs met for the rest of their lives.

The helmet of salvation protects us from idle notions: Col 2:18 (NIV) Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. Some Christians spend all their time thinking about and studying strange and weird things. They try to live it by means of their own efforts and logic. The helmet of salvation keeps us focused on all the important things in the Bible. It helps us major on those things that are going to help us pass our final exam.

The helmet of salvation protects us from having corrupt minds: 1 Tim 6:5 (NIV) And constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain. Here is the confusing one; this can sound like God is against prosperity. Think of money, possessions, positions, power, prestige, popularity, pleasure, and accomplishments in terms of a lake or a river. If you hoard them like a lake, God will be against you. If you allow them to flow through you like a river, God will keep them flowing in and through you for the rest of Your life. THAT is how you pass your final exam.
