The Prevention Courses Part 2

Textbook For
“The Helmet Of Salvation”

How Did You Get In This Condition?
Let’s take a look at a person who made a decision based on his personal belief system. Joseph, Jesus’ step-father, found out that Mary, Jesus’ mother, was pregnant. Joseph assumed that she had been sexually unfaithful to him. Because Joseph, her husband, was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly (Mat 1:19). His decision was based on what he had been exposing himself to; and, his decision was based on what of those things he was exposed to that he accepted as truth.

Joseph had EXPOSED himself and stored in his brain (excepted as truth) a lot of Old Testament information, which is truth. Because of what He chose to expose himself to, and, because of which of these exposures he accepted as truth, his heart felt positive feelings toward God and the things of God. His heart also felt negative feelings against sin.

His WILL had chosen to expose him to God and the things of God; and, his WILL had accepted God and the things of God as true. THEN, his mind assessed this situation with Mary and, based on all the information he had, the righteous thing to do was to divorce her quietly. Now we all know that, that sounds cold and mechanical. It makes Joseph sound like some kind of robot. However, this is not what is being said.

How Joseph Got In His Condition
Over all the years of Joseph’s life he had been making EXPOSURE choices; and, he had been make TRUTH choices.
  1. He willfully chose to expose his brain, mind, and heart to memorizing, studying, and understanding God and the things of God.
  2. He willfully chose to expose himself (his spirit being) to God and the things of God.
  3. He willfully chose to accept God and the things of God as good and everything contrary to that as bad.
  4. He willfully chose to accept God and the things of God as true and everything contrary to that as being false.
  5. Then when this trying situation came his way, he willfully chose to do the right, good, and righteous thing.

Exposure And What We Accept As Truth
We ARE and will become a product of those things we willfully choose to expose ourselves to; we also choose what we believe (the things we accept as true) out of those things we have allowed ourselves to experience. We then start making our life decisions based on this exposure and belief system. If we are exposed to something and we don’t accept it as truth, it is rejected in our mind and heart. But, if we accept it as truth, it becomes truth to us and it becomes a part of our decision making process. The question is, was what we accepted as truth actually the truth? The helmet of salvation only allows truth into our heart and mind.

Steps To Being Developed And Structured Like Joseph
So, what did Joseph do with Mary? Mat 1:20 (NIV) But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

We look at people like Joseph and wonder how they keep making such godly decisions. The answer is, they have been taking good care of THEIR command center. Mat 1:24 (NIV) When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. Like Joseph, the helmet of salvation will help us take good care of our command center. The helmet of salvation provides the filtering process whereby we allow some things to enter into the command center and disallow others. That makes us into a person filled with truth in our brain, heart, and mind.
1. Protection For Your Heart
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:7).

And the peace of God: God has powerful emotions for our heart that will flow right through the helmet of salvation. This helmet is designed to accept true feelings and reject negative, destructive feelings that keep us from feeling like we will win and succeed. When we would typically be debilitated by fear, frustration, anger, hopelessness, and depression, they are blocked off. And, the peace of God flows through the helmet of salvation and empowers us to move forward and win.

2. Protection For Your Mind
Which transcends all understanding: God has knowledge, understanding, and wisdom for our mind that will flow right through the helmet of salvation. It is designed to accept truth and reject lies, misleading, and half-truths. Even if something is true but wouldn’t be good for you, it will resist it and protect you from things you are not ready for yet. Since the four parts of our command center are so important, such a filter guarantees life success for those who wear it.

3. Protection For EVERY Situation
Will guard your hearts and your minds: Jesus knows everything even the future; He also know everyone. It is easy for us to be fooled by not trying something we should get involved in. And, it is easy for us to be pulled into something that will hurt us and those around us. This guarding piece of armor protects and exposes; it doesn’t just block everything off no matter what it is. It is an open door to everything right, good, and righteous; and it is impossible to penetrate when it is wrong, bad, or evil.

4. Protection With Love
In Christ Jesus: When we get saved and justified, Jesus comes into us and we are included in Jesus. We are, from that moment on, protected by Someone Who loves us more than we love ourselves. We are protected by Someone Who knows everything about the past, present, and future. He has all knowledge, understanding, wisdom, power, and love. There is nothing He will do that is wrong, bad, or evil; and, there is nothing He won’t do that is right, good, and righteous. He surrounds our command center with a protection that is far beyond anything we could ever hope for.

Col 1:19-22 (NIV) For God was pleased to have all His (God’s) fullness dwell in Him (Jesus), and through Him (Jesus) to reconcile to Himself (God) all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His (Jesus’) blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies IN YOUR MINDS because of your evil behavior. But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation.

5. Protection Through Peace
This is the gospel of peace that provided you the helmet of salvation. Once we accept the gospel message, we have the helmet of salvation available to start protecting our brain, heart, and mind. This peace, that comes as a part of the helmet of salvation, has powers that are superior to human thinking. The guarding power of this peace keeps us from doing things that will get us into trouble.

When we allow fear to come into our life, we find our self running from things that don’t even exist. We worry about things that aren’t even a problem. We prepare and brace ourselves for things that aren’t coming. We are afraid to try things that God would bless. The helmet of salvation protects that peace in our heart and mind. It keeps the peace in and the fear out. SO, let’s get started asking Jesus to help us get this helmet of salvation covering our command center.
