Why Should We Keep Our Helmet Of Salvation On
By Only Listening To God?

1. We Should Keep Our Helmet Of Salvation On
Because He Gives Us A Relationship That Protects Us
Rom 1:20 (NIV) For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities--His eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Adam and Eve had incredible proof of God’s love. He gave them a beautiful body, a beautiful garden, and a beautiful world filled with wonderful provisions and creatures. Satan had done absolutely nothing for them. It should have been easy for them to decide who they should love, trust, and listen to. BUT, they made their decision based on their intellect rather than all that proof. Our helmet stays on or comes off based on what we think, believe, and feel. Trusting God’s proof builds a relationship that keeps our helmet on and that protects us.

We all make the same mistake as Adam and Eve; we allow people, who have done nothing to prove their love for us like God has, to teach us, influence us, and lead us. Not only has He given us our body, our life, and a world to live in, He has further demonstrated His love. Rom 5:8 (NIV) But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Love and appreciation for God is what empowers us to keep our helmet of salvation on. We keep it on when we only allow God’s information to enter our brain, mind, will, and heart. If anyone says anything that is different or contrary to what He says, we are to allow our helmet to block it off. THAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP THAT PROTECTS US!

2. We Should Keep Our Helmet Of Salvation On
Because He Gives Us His Holy Spirit
Rom 8:14-17 (NIV) Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.

3. We Should Keep Our Helmet Of Salvation On
Because He Makes Us His Child
Because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God: If we ignore Who God is, we find it hard to only listen to Him. It isn’t until we do what Adam and Eve didn’t do that we keep our helmet on. Who has done more for you than God? Who has done what it takes to EARN your love, appreciation, respect, and trust? Who has done what it takes to PROVE to you that He loves you more that you love yourself. Who is going to lead you into all the great provisions of God? The Holy Spirit is ready to lead you into a love relationship that makes you a son of God. That alone should help us be willing to keep our helmet on.
4. We Should Keep Our Helmet Of Salvation On
Because He Heals The Emotions In Our Heart
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship: We all face major issues in this world. John 16:33 (NIV) I (Jesus) have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. God proves His love for us by giving us His peace. We can face the challenges of life with peace and the power of Jesus. That is a good reason for us to only listen to God and keep our helmet on.

5. We Should Keep Our Helmet Of Salvation On
Because He Is Our Father
And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father”: The intimacy we are able to feel for the Father is provided to us by the Holy Spirit. We know we are His children. The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. The Spirit enables us to cry out to Him with terms of endearment. Abba, Father is expressing a deep feeling of closeness and love for Him. And, we have been equipped with a great love that can be released out of our heart to God. This gives us the proof and the power to only trust and listen to God.

6. We Should Keep Our Helmet Of Salvation On
Because He Gives Us A Relationship That Is Generous To Us
Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ: If we will allow ourselves to be convinced that God is our only source of truth, we will keep our helmet of salvation on. That will keep all information out of our heart, mind, will, and brain that is contrary to God and His Word. Then from that point on we will start inheriting God and all His has to offer. We will inherit everything in a joint or co-relationship with Jesus.

7. We Should Keep Our Helmet Of Salvation On
Because He Gives Us A Love That Empowers Us
Rom 5:5 (NIV) And hope does not disappoint us, because God HAS poured out HIS love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, Whom He has given us. This is a two-way experience. We are experiencing God’s love in a special way. And, we are thereby enabled to reciprocate that intimacy. As we grow in our love relationship with God, we desire to please Him. We want to do those things that He likes. We also don’t want to disappoint Him. Our two-way relationship with Him makes it clear to us how God feels about the things we are doing. His heart is in close contact with our heart.

Our helmet of salvation makes it obvious to us when we have done something that damages the relationship. We also know when we are being pleasing to Him. It is this love relationship that empowers the helmet of salvation to work. Our love for God causes us to resist anything that would damage our relationship with Him. Things that are pleasing to God are automatically let into our brain, mind, heart, and will. Now, it is just a matter of spending time with Him.
