Textbook For
“The Helmet Of Salvation”

The Helmet Of Salvation Purpose
Mat 25:31-36 (NIV) WHEN the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He WILL sit on His throne in heavenly glory. All the nations WILL be gathered before Him, and He WILL separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He WILL put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left.

Then the King WILL say to those on His right, “Come, you who are blessed by My Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited Me in, I needed clothes and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you came to visit Me.”
Let’s look at the Scriptures that help us take advantage of the helmet of salvation so we will be able to live this kind of life.

Helmet Of Salvation Scriptures
The Gospel of peace provides the helmet of salvation that protects the heart and mind: Phil 4:7 (NIV) And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. It isn’t until salvation enters into us that we can hear and understand the principles of Jesus that teach us how to pass our final exam.

The Gospel of peace provides the helmet of salvation
to heal the heart and the mind: Col 1:19-22 (NIV) For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.

Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation.
Being free from accusation means we applied Jesus’ principles and was able to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, befriend strangers, clothe those needing clothing, and visit the sick and imprisoned for everyone for the rest of their lives.

The helmet of salvation protects from human thoughts: Mat 16:23 (NIV) Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” When we don’t have our helmet of salvation on, we may think “well-meaning” thoughts; but, they aren’t thoughts flowing from Jesus. If they aren’t thoughts flowing through Jesus then we won’t feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, befriend strangers, clothe those needing clothing, and visit the sick and imprisoned. And, because Jesus’ principles aren’t being applied, they won’t be able to do it for everyone for the rest of their lives.
Without the helmet of salvation, Satan can take away people’s minds: Mark 5:15 (NIV) When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 2 Cor 4:4 (NIV) The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. At this point the person thinks selfishly and won’t care about feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, befriending strangers, clothing those needing clothing, and visiting the sick and imprisoned.

The material the helmet of salvation is made out of is love: Mark 12:30-31 (NIV) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” This opens our heart, mind, brain, and will so we will be willing to learn Jesus’ principles for how to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, befriend strangers, clothe those needing clothing, and visit the sick and imprisoned.

The helmet of salvation protects us from worry: Mat 6:34 (NIV) Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Worry causes us to focus on ourselves rather than the needs of others.

The helmet of salvation helps us understand persecution: John 15:18 (NIV) If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated Me first. Without the helmet of salvation, persecution causes us to quit doing what it takes to be different. We either give up on Jesus’ way of helping people or we try to be covert, obscure, and hidden in our efforts.

The helmet of salvation helps bring unity: Acts 4:32 (NIV) All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. Once we start applying Jesus’ principles for feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, befriending strangers, clothing those needing clothing, and visiting the sick and imprisoned, we develop companies, corporations, businesses, groups, and churches that all work together in unity to provide this way of life.
