The Resistance Courses Part 2

Textbook For
“Resistance Through Renewal”

The Three-Step Procedure
For Resisting Through Renewal

Rom 10:8-10 (NIV) But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

STEP ONE:
Learn From Your Salvation Experience

1. Learn From What You Did To Get Salvation
Let Jesus take you through your salvation, new birth procedure and use it to teach you how to live the Christian life. Since you have already experienced the supernatural miracle of being born again, Jesus can use it to help you understand how to get additional miracles happening in your life. Romans 10:8-10 lays out a clear set of procedures for getting salvation and justification miraculously placed in your life. The methods you applied to getting salvation are the same ones you must use for growing in your Christian life.

2. Learn Spiritual Procedures
Rom 10:8 (NIV) But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: When you read a passage of Scripture in the Bible and you do what it tells you to do, supernatural power and transformation flow through your faith into your life. In order for you to be born again, you had to either read this verse or someone had to take the truths of it and apply them to your life. You had to accept that your mouth and your heart had to do something.

3. Take Faith-Action
Rom 10:9 (NIV) That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Let’s say you weren’t a Christian but were reading the Bible trying to find out how to become one. If you read Romans 10:9 and didn’t do what it told you to do, salvation wouldn’t take place in you. But, if you took faith-action, you would stop, read, and obey this Scripture by using your mouth and heart. Salvation would supernaturally come into your life. Instantly you would be born again.

The moment you used your mouth to CONFESS and your heart to BELIEVE, you obeyed this Scripture (took faith-action). That produced a supernatural miracle by you using spiritual procedures. Once you obeyed, it happened to you because you believed what it said would happen. You may not have obeyed this Scripture by reading it for yourself; but, someone else read it and used it to lead you into doing what it took to be saved. Your mouth confessing and your heart believing are how you are going to grow spiritually for the rest of your Christian life.

4. Get The Results Of Obedience Through Faith
Rom 10:10 (NIV) For it is with your heart that you believe and ARE justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and ARE saved. How did you become a Christian? You obeyed this Scripture or the principles out of it. Since someone led you through these principles, the results were: you became a child of God, a member of His family, and a citizen of His eternal Kingdom. These procedures are spiritual procedures that work on all the Bible is going to be telling you about.

5. Get The Assurance Of Obedience Through Faith
Jesus is taking you back so you can see HOW salvation happened in your life. Once you obeyed the requirements of Romans 10:9-10, the Holy Spirit gave you an assurance. Because you obeyed this verse or the principles out of this verse, a supernatural assurance started speaking to your heart. Rom 8:16 (NIV) The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. The fact that you KNOW you have been born again and KNOW you are a Christian is a miracle provided to you by the Holy Spirit.

STEP TWO:
Apply The Principles

Step one showed you how confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart works. Now it is time to allow Jesus to teach you how to apply these two procedures to other verses in the Bible.

1. Believe In Creation Words
Rom 10:17 (NIV) Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. Just like someone providing you with the gospel message produced faith in you, so does reading the Bible. As you read and study the Bible, Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, speaks faith into you. Once faith is spoken into your heart, you are able to believe that passage and allow it to create the benefits of that verse.

2. Believe The Word Is Near You
Rom 10:8 (NIV) But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: Where does this verse say the word is? It is in your mouth and in your heart. As you, a child of God, read and study the Bible, the way for God’s Word to move from the pages of your Bible into your life is, confessing it with your mouth and believing it in your heart. The first application of this procedure is to be born again. Which is what Romans 10:9-10 are all about.

3. Go From Salvation To Spiritual Growth
Rom 10:9a (NIV) That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord....” When you were needing salvation, the procedure was: Confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” If you need another miracle of God from the Bible, you would take the words of that Scripture and put them in the place of “Jesus is Lord.” Once you have already confessed with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” salvation has already taken place. After that, it is time to use the same procedures for other spiritual needs.

However, you must continue to confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and continue to believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead for the rest of your life. But, you must also use the confession with your mouth and the believing in your heart for obtaining other Biblical principles. Confessing and believing are spiritual tools for bringing Biblical things out of the Bible into the behavior, relationships, and circumstances of your life. When you do, miracles come your way just like the miracle of salvation did.

STEP THREE:
Practice On An Example

1. Use Your Mouth
To Get Freedom From Condemnation
Rom 8:1-2 (NIV) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Let Jesus show you how to apply this mouth-and-heart procedure to Romans 8:1-2: If you confess with your mouth (Rom 10:10),“ there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Rom 8:1),” and believe in your heart that (Rom 10:10) the creation word of God set you free from condemnation (Rom 8:1), it will supernaturally happen.

What you just did was, you took the tools out of Romans 10:10 and applied them to getting condemnation removed from your life through Romans 8:1. You would confess out loud: “there is now no condemnation because I am in Christ Jesus.” You would be able to say that because you believe in your heart that (Rom 10:10) the creation word of God set you free from condemnation. Through the confession of your mouth, based on the faith in your heart, you got a miracle worked in your life.

2. Use Your Heart
To Get Freedom From Condemnation
Rom 10:9b (NIV) If you...believe in your heart that God set you free from condemation AND confess it with your mouth, it will miraculously happen. It isn’t adequate for you to just read and study your Bible. You must read and study your Bible so you will know WHAT to confess with your mouth and WHAT to believe in your heart. But, you must confess what you read and study and you must believe it in your heart. It is a powerless exercise to read and study your Bible without confessing it and believing it.

3. Keep Confessing And Believing
Rom 10:10 (NIV) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. No matter how you felt after doing this, it did happen. Whether you saw any changes in your life, it did happen. Whether anyone else felt like you were a new creation in Christ Jesus or not, it did happen. The only controlling factor was whether or not you CONTINUED to believe it happened. That is where you want to pray and ask God to empower you to constantly believe.

James 1:6-8 (NIV) But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. This is also where you must pray and ask God to empower you to constantly believe as you use the confess-and-believe spiritual system to get the rest of the provisions of God from the Bible.
