John 15:7 (NIV) If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. As you get closer to being able to put to death the misdeeds of the body, the more prayers you get answered positively. It is like walking; you grow spiritually and more prayers get answered. As more prayers get answered, you grow more spiritually. This process of the spiritual walk takes you farther into the provisions of God.

Gal 5:25 (NIV) Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. The Holy Spirit makes your confession with your mouth and believing in your heart work. He causes the problems with what you look at and listen to get directed into the things of Jesus and the Bible. He takes the problems you have with your mouth and tongue and brings the power of God into the situation. He takes the battle you are having with your body and helps you get Jesus’ training and power so you can win.

Mat 6:22-23 (NIV) The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole BODY will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole BODY will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Your body is animalistic; it craves pleasure. It pushes your eyes in directions they shouldn’t go. It lacks the guidelines or morals that you as a spirit being have. It will LOOK for pleasure no matter how evil it is. You and the Holy Spirit are the only reason it doesn’t fall into total depravity.

The Holy Spirit has been working with the conscience in your spirit from the moment you got old enough to be responsible for the issues of right and wrong. He is the reason you feel guilty when you look at things that are wrong. You can harden your conscience where you can no longer hear the Holy Spirit. But as long as you don’t do that, He will keep letting you know what is right to look at and what is wrong.

Your body’s drives are stronger than you are. So, you need Jesus to empower you to resist these drives, cravings, and urges that the Holy Spirit is warning you about. You need to cooperate with Jesus and the Holy Spirit so you can put to death the misdeeds of your body.

The sinful nature is in your body; that nature was passed down to you from Adam and Eve. Here is what is trying to flow out of your body, if you don’t win over it: Gal 5:19-21 (NIV) The acts of the SINFUL NATURE are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery (excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures); idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Not one of these acts of the sinful nature will be allowed into God’s eternal kingdom. But, everyone of them are being displayed out in front of your eyes. The world and the devil are advertising them, tempting you with them, bringing them to you through other people, and making them LOOK like normal ways of living life. For you to turn your eyes and ears away from them will require the supernatural miracles of God. For you to not allow them to creep into your five senses will mean that you really do have the right WANT and HATE (Rom 7:15).

Acts 1:8 (NIV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The entry way into your heart is through your eyes and ears. You have the power to recognize something that you shouldn’t be looking at and immediately turn you eyes away. If you will ASK Jesus to help you believe you have that power, He will speak faith into you so you will know you can turn your head just as soon as you see something bad.

1 Cor 6:18 (NIV) Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Your body will want to go places that you shouldn’t go. But, you have the Holy Spirit’s power to refuse. If you accidently find yourself in a bad situation, are all of a sudden presented with a temptation, or can see it is a questionable place to be, use the power of the Holy Spirit to get out of there as fast as you can.

Mat 26:41 (NIV) Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.

• WATCH: Watching is to be on your guard. Prepare your heart and mind in advance to be ready to remove yourself from anything that will expose you to wrong, bad, or evil things. As Jesus leads you through these studies, He is showing you things that you need to avoid. While showing you things you need in your life, He is also showing you things to resist. One of the aspects of resisting is to be looking for those things that have the potential of flowing through your eyes and ears and contaminating your heart and mind.


• PRAY: Praying is to ask Jesus to help you recognize the first signs of warning that something isn’t right. You will need to ask Jesus to help you remember and recognize those things He taught you to avoid and resist. He needs to be the One Who decides what you should and shouldn’t expose your eyes and ears to. Pray and ask Jesus to empower you to remove yourself from anything that is trying to contaminate your heart.
