Jesus, empower me to help my friend understand why there is so much suffering on earth. Help them realize that it is because God is allowing people to do what they want. He is giving my friend a complete picture of what life is like when people are free to do anything they WANT. Help them see that, if left without God’s help, things on this planet will get worse and worse. Help me show them that they have been running their life without Jesus’ help; they have been using their God-given freedom of WILL their own way; and, because of this their life automatically heads in a downward direction. Help them see that THEY have chosen to be the way they are, the way they think, the way they talk, and do the things they do. Their God-given free will has been in charge of their life; but, it hasn’t been used to include Jesus in it.

Jesus, help me find out if my friend is completely satisfied with their life and the way they are running it. If they are, then they will not want to say this part of this prayer. Since God’s WILL is pure, fair, gracious, merciful, and sinless, if they want to USE people, God’s will won’t fit with theirs. If they are okay with USING them for meeting their financial, sexual, physical, and emotional needs, then they aren’t ready to ask God (pray) to let His will be done in their life. Help me accept the fact that they must be WILLING to ask Him to make these Kingdom changes in their philosophies, thoughts, feeling, words, and deeds. Help me yield to their desires and not try to push them into praying this prayer.

Jesus, let me help my friend understand that people are constantly talking about world peace. They wear peace symbols on their clothes and jewelry. However, they aren’t willing to do and be what it takes for THEM to start the peace movement. Help me show them that God’s will is going to be asking them to change and allow peace to flow in and through them.

Jesus, help me find out whether my friend wants to continue to exercise their free will but wants those around them to limit their behavior so they can have peace around them. If they do, then they aren’t ready to pray this part of this prayer. Help me show my friend that no one wants to be the only one who is being peaceful, loving, and kind while being mistreated by everyone else. Help me explain to them that if they ask God to put His will in their life, they are going to need to ask Him to also do His will in the lives of the rest of the people on this planet as well.

Jesus, help me teach my friend that right now, at this moment, heaven is in perfect harmony and peace. If God’s will starts being done on earth just like it is currently being done in heaven, true peace, harmony, and love will come into this world. And, help me teach them that the way this is going to happen is, one person at a time. Help me make it clear to them that the Bible tells us that everyone isn’t going to allow God’s will to be done in their lives; but, many will. Help them to understand that the more people become Christians, the more God’s will, will be done on earth as it is being done in heaven.

If this is what your friend wants for their life and the people of this earth, then have them say these words: “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
