The Resistance Courses Part 2

Prayer For
“Resistance Through Commitment”

I Am Committed To The Work Of God
I Have Power To Fulfill My Commitment
Exo 35:30-31 (NIV) Then Moses said to the Israelites, “See, the LORD has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and He has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts. The Temple of Meeting is about to be built. It has very specific specifications that MUST be followed. God is giving certain ones special skills to accomplish this job.

Jesus, help me believe that if I will allow God to give me special skills to do the work He has called me to do, the Holy Spirit will empower me with special gifts. I will be able to do supernatural things that I would have never been able to do on my own. As those special gifts start influencing me, let them literally change my life in a wonderful way.

I Am Committed To Train Others
Exo 35:34 (NIV) And he has given both him (Bezalel) and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. Jesus, help me realize that God is willing to use many people to spread the message of His good news. But, help me see that they can’t just go out untrained and without the Holy Spirit. He wants to use me to learn the things of the Word of God, to apply them to my life, and then do the same with others. Teach me that this is the way the mighty move of God takes place.

My Commitment Inspires Others
Exo 36:2-3 (NIV) Then Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the LORD had given ability and who was willing to come and do the work. They received from Moses all the offerings the Israelites had brought to carry out the work of constructing the sanctuary. And the people continued to bring freewill offerings morning after morning. Jesus, show me that as I commit myself to the work of God and resist temptations to quit, other people will join me and contribute those things they have to offer.

My Commitment Brings Unity
Exo 36:8 (NIV) All the skilled men among the workmen made the tabernacle with ten curtains of finely twisted linen and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, with cherubim worked into them by a skilled craftsman. Jesus, it is a beautiful thing to see God work in and through His people. So many things can happen: and, such wonderful things are produced as everyone contributes. Help me see that no one person would be able to do such a beautiful work by themselves. But, as many work together in unity, fantastic things come out of that move of God.

I Am Committed To The Right Project
Exo 38:24-26 (NIV) The total amount of the gold from the wave offering used for all the work on the sanctuary was 29 talents and 730 shekels, according to the sanctuary shekel. The silver obtained from those of the community who were counted in the census was 100 talents and 1,775 shekels, according to the sanctuary shekel--one beka per person, that is, half a shekel, according to the sanctuary shekel, from everyone who had crossed over to those counted, twenty years old or more, a total of 603,550 men.

Jesus, help me find out where God wants me, and show me that if I join Him in that work, I will see Him move in me and in others in a mighty way.

Since God was the creator of that project, help me understand why it succeeded. Since God was the orchestrator of the plan, help me see why it prospered. Since God was the designer of the way it was done, help me understand why it turned out beautiful. And, Since God was obeyed to the letter, help me be clear on why it was blessed.

Help me realize that if I am committed to a “work of God” that God didn’t originate, I need to ask Him what to do about it. If things have stagnated, diminished, died, or become nonproductive, help me see if I am committed to the right work of God.

Commitment Produces A Job Well Done
Exo 39:42-43 (NIV) The Israelites had done all the work just as the LORD had commanded Moses. Moses inspected the work and saw that they had done it just as the LORD had commanded. So Moses blessed them.

Jesus, help me be aware of the fact that people who are committed to God and resist the things of their body, the world, and the devil--do what God instructs.
  • They don’t have conflict in their heart.

  • They aren’t always leaning in the opposite direction.

  • They don’t have problems cooperating with others.

  • They don’t struggle following orders.

  • They do good, reliable, professional, and beautiful work.

  • They are at peace with themselves, other people, and God.

  • Help me be one of these people.

Each Person’s Contribution Produces A Whole
Exo 40:1-2 (NIV) Then the LORD said to Moses: “Set up the tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, on the first day of the first month.” Jesus, show me that all this work that had been being done had only produced parts that went in or became a part of the Tabernacle. But, it is like me; I am doing something that God needs produced while someone else is working on something else. But, help me see that when God puts it all together, it results in an incredible and mighty work of God. My part may be small and seem unimportant. But, when I see where it fits with everyone else’s work, I will be impressed with what God did through me.

I Am Committed To Doing What I Am Told
Exo 40:16-17 (NIV) Moses did everything just as the LORD commanded him. So the tabernacle was set up on the first day of the first month in the second year. Jesus, show me what would have happened to the Tabernacle if someone decided they didn’t want to do it the way God said. God would have had to find someone else to do their job. Help me see that everyone had to do it the right way; or, it wouldn’t have fit and worked with everything else. As I commit to totally obey God, help me appreciate the fact that other people are doing the same. Make it clear to me that it will only be the totally committed that will ultimately be used to fulfill the work of God.

God Blesses The Work Of The Committed
Exo 40:33-34 (NIV) Then Moses set up the courtyard around the tabernacle and altar and put up the curtain at the entrance to the courtyard. And so Moses finished the work. Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. Jesus, help me understand that all the work that everyone is doing in cooperation with God is just the mechanical work. If Christians follow God’s instructions in the Bible, all the work of God gets done just like God wants it to. But, help me realize that it was done so God could bless it with His power.

Jesus, help me see that once I have committed myself to obeying God and resisting anything that is contrary to His will, I can produce a path for the mighty work of God. Show me that what I did wasn’t the work of God. It was the avenue through which God did His supernatural work.

Jesus, help me understand that it is like constructing a house. If it was built like the owner wanted it, then it will meet their needs. But, if it wasn’t then the owner can’t do what they wanted to with the house. Help me see that I only serve God’s purpose when I listen to Him and commit myself to obeying His instructions.
