The Prevention Courses Part 2

Workbook For
“The Shoes Of The Gospel Of Peace”

1. Putting On The Shoes Of The Gospel Of Peace
By Trading Weakness For Power
Jesus, if I am going to be able to keep selfishness from getting into my life, then I am going to have to yield to Your power. You can take my weaknesses and flow through them. You can use my feelings of inadequacy and replace them with Your adequacy. Help me not feel adequate in myself; because, if I do, I won’t yield to Your adequacy. If I feel inadequate, then I can be anointed by You to feel Your adequacy as I yield to Your anointing power.

Jesus, let me hear You say to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Then help me say, “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, SO THAT Christ’s power may rest on me (2 Cor 12:9).” Since You aren’t looking for people who will do a better job, You are looking for me to know I can’t do a better job. If I am going to resist selfishness and start helping people, I am going to have to have Your help. Help me be a willing channel through which You can work. Help me be willing to yield to Your power; which is part of me putting on and keeping on my shoes of the gospel of peace.

2. Putting On The Shoes Of The Gospel Of Peace
By Knowing The Gospel Message
Jesus, teach me that another part of the issue concerning the shoes of the gospel of peace is the actual message itself. Teach me its points that have to be covered in order for it to be the gospel message. Make it clear to me that there are certain things we all have to believe in order to receive the miracles of God. In order for me to be protected from selfishness, help me make sure I put the right shoes on.

Jesus, remind me of the gospel You caused to be preached to me, the one I received and on which I have taken my stand. By this gospel I am saved, if I hold firmly to the word that was preached to me. Otherwise, I have believed in vain.

Jesus, let the message I received be passed on to others as of first importance:
  1. That You died for our sins according to the Scriptures.
  2. That You were buried.
  3. That You were raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
  4. That You appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, You appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.

    Then
You appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all You appeared to Paul also, as to one abnormally born. For he was the least of the apostles and did not even deserve to be called an apostle, because he persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God what You, and Your grace to him was not without effect. No, he worked harder than all of them--yet not him, but the grace of God that was with him.
Whether, then, it was Paul or someone else, this is what was preached, and this is what I believed (1 Cor 15:1-11).

3. Putting On The Shoes Of The Gospel Of Peace
By Including The Gospel Message In Your Story
Jesus, help me begin to speak and say: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear Him and do what is right. You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, Who is Lord of all. You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached. Then help me go on and present my story and the main points of Your gospel message.
Jesus, help me include these vital elements in every gospel message I present. That
  1. God anointed You with the Holy Spirit and power, and You went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with You.
  2. Then help me tell them that Your disciples were Your witnesses of everything You did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem.
  3. Then let me explain that they killed You by hanging You on a tree,
  4. But God raised You from the dead on the third day
  5. And caused You to be seen. You were not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen--by those who ate and drank with You after You rose from the dead.
  6. You commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that You are the One Whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.
  7. All the prophets testify about You that everyone who believes in You receives forgiveness of sins through Your name.”
Then while I am still speaking these words, let the Holy Spirit come on all who have heard the message. Let the believers who have come with me be astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit has been poured out even on the Gentiles and Jews alike (Acts 10:34-45).

4. Putting On The Shoes Of The Gospel Of Peace
By Including The Gospel Message Points
Now Jesus, teach me the elements of the gospel message. Help me know the main points that I have to tell everyone. Teach me that these main points MUST be in the message that empowers people to be saved. Keep me aware of the fact that if anyone believes something else, they have believed in vain.

I accept this as the gospel that was preached to me, which I received and on which I have taken my stand.
  1. Jesus was killed.
  2. God raised Him from the dead on the third day.
  3. God caused Him to be seen after His death and resurrection by witnesses whom God chose.
Now that I have these main points, help me stand on the shoes of the gospel of peace. And let these shoes always be made up of these elements or points.

5. Putting On The Shoes Of The Gospel Of Peace
By Leading Them Into Two Things
Jesus, as You helped me see in these two gospel presentations, a few other details can be added for further clarity. But the three main issues must be present. After those three main concepts have been presented, then You have to start working on these seeds You helps me plant. Now, help me always stay aware of the fact that neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, Who makes things grow (1 Cor 3:7). Once planted, it is up to You to help the person start getting the supernatural information they need so as to be saved. You are going to bring them to a place where they accept two things as being true.

Jesus, what does Your Word say? “The word is near you; it is in your MOUTH and in your HEART,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming (Rom 10:8). Start bringing this Truth into my heart and into other people’s hearts. Start convincing them of two important facts that they must BELIEVE and SPEAK. Teach me that without the Father making these issues clear, the person is never going to be saved. Show me that no one can come to You unless the Father Who sent You draws him, and You will raise him up at the last day (John 6:44). As the Father uses sermons, Scripture reading, people’s testimonies or stories, conversations with a Christian, Christian books, etc. to bring about a solid proof that You are the true Messiah, help me be there to lead them into Your salvation. Once this happens, help me make sure this person knows that two very important things are true.

This concludes your textbook studies and workbook prayers for today.
