Jesus, help me to put on the full armor of God and keep it on, so that when the day of evil comes, I may be able to stand my ground. Since I never know when I am going to face major temptations that will be extremely difficult to fight against, help me wear my armor of God 24/7.

Jesus, help me understand this: that if the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into (Luke 12:39). Since I am not going to know when I am going to face spiritual attacks and temptations, help me be trained, empowered, and fully equipped to win.

Jesus, let this illustration You used, that explained the importance of always staying ready for Your second coming, also be applied to the issues of the temptations I face. Put Your Biblical principle into my heart and mind as to how important it is to be ready for any spiritual issue.

Jesus, use the failure that David experienced, in 2 Samuel chapter 11, help me always have my spiritual armor on. Help me be ready to fight and win against the satanic attack sent to destroy me. Help me not sin against myself, You, and other people. Keep me from getting so busy with human issues that I forget about the things in the spirit realm. But, instead, help me be more like Joseph; he had his armor of God on BEFORE the temptation came.

Gen 39:1-12 (NIV) Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there. The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. Jesus, help me be so yielded to You that You are with me and are able to prosper me. When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. Jesus, this is the life I seek; I want You to be with me in such a way that people can trust me with everything they own.

From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field. So he left in Joseph’s care everything he had; with Joseph in charge, he did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Jesus, this is the way You work in Your people’s lives; help me be filled with Your righteousness, godliness, purity, and holiness so You can prosper me in everything I do.

Now Joseph was well-built and handsome, and after a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he refused. “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” Jesus, this is the kind of life Your armor of God produces. Help me not only put it on, help me keep it on like Joseph was doing here. And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her OR EVEN BE WITH HER. Jesus, help me not tempt or test the armor of God; help me do everything possible to not expose myself to temptations. Let me avoid even the possibility of being exposed to temptation as much as is possible.

One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house. Jesus, help me to ALWAYS flee or run from evil. Empower me to not reason with it, discuss it, or listen to it. Help me to simply get away from it as fast as I can.

Jesus, help me see that Joseph’s case and my life can seem like a simple human story. Help me not see this event or my life as if Joseph or I am just dealing with a fellow human being. Make it clear to me that it is a big deal; I am not just having my moral character or integrity tested by a human. Teach me that, like Joseph, You have a plan for my life. Like Joseph, Satan is trying to trip me up and keep me from my earthly and eternal destiny. Help me see that no matter how small or how big the test is, I need to be fully trained, fully aware, and fully empowered to win against it. Show me that life in general is a spiritual battle. Reveal to me that like Satan was trying to take Joseph under and he had to be ready for the attack, so do I!

Jesus, help me have these things decided prior to the moments of temptation. Let me be in such a close relationship with You that I am empowered and trained to handle these issues in advance. Help me not wait until the temptation comes and then start trying to put my armor on. Keep me aware of the fact that there isn’t going to be time to pull the user’s manual out and start learning how to use this equipment. Help me have it on, know how to use it, and be GOOD at using it.
