Jesus, the Spirit of the LORD is resting on You--the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD (Isa 11:2). The beauty of Your life is recorded in the Gospels (the first four books of the New Testament). You love people; You especially care about those who are in trouble or are hurting. It is easy to accept Your leadership; You are the type of person Who treats people the way they want and need to be treated; help me allow You to join me in this relationship.

The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him: Jesus, my heavenly Father’s Spirit is on You and is flowing through You so I can see my Father’s character too. As I see Your attitudes and character, I am seeing the attitudes and character of my heavenly Father. You and my Father are exactly alike; help me learn to like the way You are, then I will be liking the way my heavenly Father is as well. In other words, You, my King, will lead with ALL the love, wisdom, understanding, counsel, power, and knowledge of God. Teach me that Your counsel and power will all be from the God of the universe.

Jesus, one of the reasons You came in bodily form, several thousand years ago, was to let me see what kind of a God, my heavenly Father is. In other words, You only said, did, and lived like God, the Father, wanted You to. As I read about You in the Bible, help me see what You and the Father are all about. Help me like what I see; help me allow You to win my heart over to Your love and kindness.

Jesus, You delight in the fear of the LORD. You will not judge by what You see with Your eyes, or decide by what You hear with Your ears (Isa 11:3). All during my life and when the new world order is set up, You will be able to see beyond the obvious. You will be able to rule with the full knowledge of what did happen; that will make my life fair. You are and will be an Authority that makes life fair for all. Help me want to be a part of this way of life now and in eternity.

Jesus, earthly courts and leaders are always trying to get at the truth in all situations. It can take years of evidence, research, trials, debates, and sorting through lies trying to find out what really happened. Finding the truth isn’t always possible in the current systems. But, You automatically know the truth and make Your decisions based on those true facts. Your attitude toward the way God, the Father, thinks will influence all Your decisions. With Your incredible knowledge, understanding, and wisdom, You will use Your wonderful attitudes and character to produce win/win situations for all involved; help me become a part of this way of life.

Jesus, You delight in the fear of the LORD: If I am afraid of doing the right thing because I might lose my job, if I fear You more, I will do the right thing anyway. But, if I learn to love doing the right thing, I will do it without any kind of fear. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. If I keep living my life based on fear, I am not made perfect in love (1 John 4:18). You are this love; You will always lead with the honesty, love, and the care that my heavenly Father does. You will always have the same character and attitudes God, the Father, has. You are a leader for me, if I accept You as my Lord and Savior; and You will give me perfect love that drives out fear. There will never be injustice in Your rule.

Jesus, this is really great for the future; but, what about my problems now? Help me know that this Kingdom is available to me now. Teach me that the social pressures, people’s opinions and criticisms, the socially acceptable way of doing things, and all the man-made rules that are currently being levied against me can be removed from my heart and life. Teach me that the truth of the matter is, no one actually lives by them themselves; they just hold these high standards against everyone else.

I fail to live up to other people’s expectations; but it doesn’t keep me from trying to please people. And, it doesn’t keep all those other people from trying to force me to live up to those expectations. They know they aren’t succeeding; but, they still can treat me like I am the only one who is failing. Show me that I can become a child of God and a citizen of His Kingdom and God’s rules will set me free from all these human rules.
