Gen 1:1 (NIV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Jesus, help me accept the fact that there are three persons or parts to God: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Help me realize that, that doesn’t make three God’s because You are united in a way far beyond human comprehension. Deu 6:4 (NIV) Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Help me learn about the three different functions of God; but, help me accept You as one God. 1 Tim 2:5-6 (NIV) For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ who gave Himself as a ransom for all men--the testimony given in its proper time.

Eccl 8:16-17 (NIV) When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to observe man’s labor on earth--his eyes not seeing sleep day or night--then I saw all that God has done. No one can comprehend what goes on under the sun. Despite all his efforts to search it out, man cannot discover its meaning. Even if a wise man claims he knows, he cannot really comprehend it. Jesus, show me that there was a time when Solomon could understand and appreciate the things of God. But, once he walked away, he lost the true meaning of life. Protect me from that.

1 Cor 2:14 (NIV) The man WITHOUT THE SPIRIT does not accept the things that come from the SPIRIT of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. Jesus, help me understand that even though the Holy Spirit wasn’t made available to everyone during Solomon’s day, God always gave the leaders of the Children of Israel His Spirit. Help see that Solomon could have stopped consulting his mind and started consulting the Holy Spirit that was given to him.

Eccl 9:1 (NIV) So I reflected on all this and concluded that the righteous and the wise and what they do are in God’s hands, but no man knows whether love or hate awaits him. Jesus, help me be aware of the fact that Solomon had the first five books of the Bible; he had God visit with him on two major occasions, he had the Holy Spirit, and he had the wisdom God gave him. For him to reject the five books of Moses, the things God told him personally, and the Holy Spirit and try to just use his wisdom was very foolish. Show me how it left him in mental torment.

But no man knows whether love or hate awaits him: Jesus, help me learn from the fact that Solomon decided to get all his research and meaning of life through what he experienced with his body, through what he could see in the world, and through yielding to all the temptations of the devil. Show me what the Holy Spirit would have done: 1 Cor 2:9-10 (NIV) However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him”--but God has REVEALED it to us BY His Spirit. The SPIRIT searches all things, even the deep things of God.

Jesus, You are heading me into great training and knowledge. As You help me yield to the Holy Spirit, let me see that I am yielding to the One Who can open my mind and lead me into all truth. That will empower me to resist all the torture Solomon was going through. Take me through what is available to me through the Holy Spirit, the Word of God, and Your training.

Jesus, show me that the Holy Spirit is NOW available to everyone, not just special people who needed Him for leadership purposes. Acts 2:17-18 (NIV) In the last days, God says, I will pour out my SPIRIT on ALL people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my SPIRIT in those days, and they will prophesy.

John 16:7-8 (NIV) But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you. When He comes, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment. Jesus, teach me that the Holy Spirit makes sure people know when they do wrong by creating guilt in their conscience. Show me that I had the Holy Spirit speaking to me through my conscience most of my life. Just as soon as I got old enough to be responsibile for right and wrong, the Holy Spirit kept me informed.

Rom 8:9 (NIV) You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the SPIRIT, if the SPIRIT of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the SPIRIT of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. Jesus, make it clear to me that I am NOT like Solomon; show me that it is impossible to live the Christian life without the power and influence of the Holy Spirit. He lives in me and provides everything I have to have to be a Christian. Teach me that if I were to reject the Holy Spirit, I would also be rejecting You. Teach me that the Holy Spirit is also the Spirit of Christ AND the Spirit of God.

John 16:13 (NIV) But when He, the SPIRIT of TRUTH, comes, He will guide you into all TRUTH. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. Jesus, help me understand that the Holy Spirit explaining the Bible to me will make sure I get the truth so I can resist the lies of my body, the world, and the devil. As I study and read my Bible, show me that the Holy Spirit will assist me in understanding what I am reading.

He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: Jesus, help me be convinced that the Holy Spirit IS the SPIRIT of TRUTH. He provides me with the truth that empowers me to resist the drives of my body, the influences of the world, and the temptations of the devil. When the Holy Spirit warns me about something I am about to do, something I am doing, or something I did, help me see that He is providing me with the power-truth of the Bible to resist those things.

He will guide you into all TRUTH: Jesus, help me realize that Your power-truth is given to me through the Spirit of truth. Then I use what the Holy Spirit gives me and successfully resist all those things that are trying to hurt me. Teach me that the Holy Spirit is in me and is my unity, bond, and relationship with You. He has one agenda: To take Your things and make sure I know them, understand them, know how to live them, and to empower me to live them. Show me that through the Holy Spirit, You and I will work together and live in oneness.

John 16:13-15 (NIV) But when He, the SPIRIT of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to Me by taking from what is Mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is Mine. That is why I said the SPIRIT will take from what is Mine and make it known to you.

Jesus, make it clear to me that the Holy Spirit is my path, my connection, and my relationship with God. He supplies me all I need to be able to get all the things of God the Father and You, God the Son. Teach me that He speaks to me Spirit to spirit; so, there is a direct connect to Him, the Holy Spirit, to You, my Lord, and to my heavenly Father. 1 Cor 6:19-20 (NIV) Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy SPIRIT, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
