“The Belt Of Truth”

Putting On The Belt Of Truth

1. Putting On The Belt Of Truth Through Obedience
Jesus, now that You have purified me by You empowering me to obey the truth so that I now have sincere love for my brothers, empower me to love one another deeply, from the heart (1 Pet 1:22).

Jesus, let the belt of truth be an obedience that produces love. Help me always be truthful because lying to people hurts them and my relationship with them. Help me realize that, when I lie as a Christian, I hurt what people think about You and Your Christianity. Give me an obedience to the truth that comes out of a deep love for one another; make it a true love from my heart. Give me Your belt of truth that is motivated by love. Jesus, teach me how to speak the truth in love, then I will in all things grow up into You Who is the Head, that is, Christ (Eph 4:15).

The person wearing the belt of truth will spend all the time it takes getting wisdom from God on how to tell someone the truth without needlessly hurting their feelings.

Jesus, help me tell the truth in love so I can successfully resist the works and temptations of Satan. But, help me understand that this must be done on a moment-by-moment, issue-by-issue basis. Since, when I am speaking the truth in love, I am keeping the belt of truth on, empower me to always do it. Show me that when I am NOT speaking the truth in love, I am WILLFULLY taking the belt of truth off. Since I put it on and keep it on by being empowered by You to always be speaking the truth in love, I ask for Your power to keep it on.
2. Putting On The Belt Of Truth Through Sharing
Jesus, I thank You for showing me that always telling people the truth in love is a vital part of Your belt of truth. But, teach me that there is a truth that I am to tell that has an even bigger meaning. Let this important truth come through me sharing my faith, preaching, teaching, and living my life of truth before people. Help me tell people The Truth; Jesus, You are THE TRUTH. John 14:6 (NIV) Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Jesus, teach me that if I speak on my own I do so to gain honor for myself, but if I work for the honor of the One Who sent me, I am a man of truth; there is nothing false about me (John 7:18).

Jesus, help me work for the honor of You, so I can be a person who has the belt of truth on. Help me not tell people the truth (not lie to them) and still do it for my own honor. Help me tell people about my heavenly Father and the Son He sent for our salvation; let that make me be a person who is wearing the belt of truth. Since presenting the gospel is a part of wearing the belt of truth, help me see that this is a truth that is even greater than telling something that is true.
