“The Belt Of Truth”

Keeping The Belt Of Truth On

1. Keeping The Belt Of Truth On By Making Biblical Decisions

Jesus, help me realize that I sometimes take my
belt of truth off by the day-to-day decisions I make.

It is this issue that we need to spend some time on. How do we arrive at various decisions of life?

Jesus, help me ask myself these questions and give the right answers so I can keep the belt of truth on all the time:
  • Jesus, where do I look for help when I am living my everyday life?
  • Do I cast down my own imaginations and suppositions?
  • Do I take all the “high things” that I consider authorities in my life and reject them?
  • Do I replace every philosophy and system of belief that exalts itself against the knowledge of God?
  • Am I bringing my every thought into obedience to Your plan and will, Jesus?
Jesus, empower me to cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and help me to bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of You (2 Cor 10:5 AKJV).

2. Keeping The Belt Of Truth On By Jesus Living In And Through You
Empower me to fix my eyes on You, Jesus. You are the author and perfecter of my faith. You are the One who FOR THE JOY set before You endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Help me consider You Who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that I will not grow weary and lose heart. Jesus, in my struggle against sin, I have not yet resisted to the point of shedding my blood (Heb 12:2-4).

Jesus, help me look to You for who I typically seek advice from for my day-to-day life decisions. Help it not be myself, my friends, my spouse, a worldly counselor, the internet, magazines or books on the world’s wisdom, my parents, or authorities unless You tell me to. Since You allowed the joy You would receive from Your heavenly Father motivate You, since You suffered rejection, ridicule, pain, and death in order to be obedient to the will of Our Father, help me do that too. Let me be willing to “do whatever it takes” to make Your Truth my Truth. Let me use Your Truth to guide my life and my decisions.

3. Keeping The Belt Of Truth On By Not Doing It Your Way
Jesus, protect me from a time coming when I will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit my own desires, I gather around me a great number of teachers to say what my itching ears want to hear (2 Tim 4:3).

Jesus, even though this is the kind of information I am surrounded with most of the time, let Your belt of truth protect me from it. Even though most of the common decision-making concepts that I am taught in school, business, and sports comes from thoughts and principles that people want to hear, let Your belt of truth keep me free from it all.

Jesus, let Your belt of truth protect me from selfishness, lying to people, pressuring people, winning at the expense of other people, competing against people, using people, intimidating people, ignoring people, and committing adultery and fornication with people. Even though these are all acceptable practices taught by my peers and leaders, empower me to put on and keep on Your belt of truth. Since, putting on the belt of truth requires that I reject ALL of these concepts and let others know I am rejecting them, empower me to do just that.
4. Keeping The Belt Of Truth On Through Prayer
Jesus, help me to pray continually (1 Th 5:17). Since I am going to need to keep my belt of truth on, help me be continually talking, consulting, and communicating with You, Jesus. It is easy for me to do what I have always done. When I need to make a decision, I often forget to include You in my thought processes. Rather than me thinking, reasoning, and trying to figure things out in my mind BY MYSELF, help me always include You while I am thinking. Since thinking alone only brings my opinions and philosophies into play, help me think something like, Jesus what do You want me to do in this situation? Help me do this so I can get Your understanding, knowledge, and wisdom to come into my thoughts and feelings. Since keeping the belt of truth on means I am always adding You to my conversations in my thoughts with myself, help me always include You in them.

5. Keeping The Belt Of Truth On Through Your Associations
Jesus, let me be a blessed man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But my delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law I meditate day and night. Make me like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. So that whatever I do prospers (Psa 1:1-3).

Jesus, join me in watching over how I spend my time, efforts, and money during the week. Let it be on Your things and not on the things of my body, the world, or the devil. Let Your belt of truth be kept on by me spending my time, money, and efforts on Your things, Jesus. Help my day’s planning and fulfillment not look like the days of people who do not serve You. Help my philosophies and principles not line up with people who don’t live according to the Bible. Help me not feel the same way about people as those who aren’t involved in Your love.

6. Keeping The Belt Of Truth On Through Commitment
Jesus, let me not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time I will reap a harvest if I do not give up (Gal 6:9). Teach me that keeping the belt of truth on is accomplished by not getting tired of doing things Your way. Even if it seems like Your ways aren’t working, let me remain in You and Your Word. Even if it challenges my faith in You and Your ways, when things don’t work out like I think they should, let me remain in Your love. Help me wait on You and let You work it out Your way. I believe You will give me a miracle that will be awesome. Give me faith and patience in You so I can wait and not use some of my old systems. I believe I will “reap a harvest” of miracles and brilliant results if I do not give up.

7. Keeping The Belt Of Truth On By Clothing Yourself With Jesus
Jesus, help me realize that the night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let me put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let me behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, let me clothe myself with You, my Lord Jesus Christ, and empower me not to think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature (Rom 13:12-14).

Jesus, help me not fall into this list of all the popular methods of living our lives. Help me not join the world in rewarding myself with pleasures of the body. After a hard day’s work, help me not want to experience the pleasures of the wrong types of sex, drugs, alcohol, and various other sins. Keep me from either wanting to do them, watch others do them, or both. Help me go Your way and set my eyes on the joy that comes through serving You. Let Your belt of truth keep the pleasures of the world from motivating me to do evil.
