For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). Jesus, help me understand that I started out with a God-given free will; then, many of my decisions brought me under the addictive slavery of sin. From that point on, God’s will was no longer being done on earth as it is in heaven, as it related to my life. That meant I needed something that would bring God’s will back into my life like it is being done in heaven. Help me realize that, that is what you have done for me through salvation.

Jesus, I know that my old self was crucified with You SO THAT my body of sin might be done away with, that I should NO LONGER be a slave to sin (Rom 6:6). Teach me that being born again gave me power against the addictive slavery of sin. So if You, the Son sets me free, I will be free indeed (John 8:36). Now that I have my God-given free will back, help me see that it is now my responsibility to DECIDE what I want to do with this great freedom.

Jesus, I am NOW free to start offering or involving my body in those things I WANT to expose it to. THEREFORE, help me not LET sin reign in my mortal body so that I obey its evil desires. Help me not OFFER the parts of my body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather help me OFFER myself to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and OFFER the parts of my body to Him as instruments of righteousness (Rom 6:12-13).

Jesus, help me make Romans 6:12-13 the goal that aims at bringing God’s will back into my life “as it is in heaven.” Help me look at HOW to get the power and the procedures to “not LET sin reign in my mortal body,” HOW to “OFFER myself to God,” and HOW to OFFER the parts of my body to Him.”

Jesus, help me see, from these Scriptures, how I have been freed so I can decide what to offer or involve my body in. From now on, as the Bible appeals to ME to do the right thing, help me yield to its appeal. However, teach me that it isn’t appealing to my body or its efforts to start doing the right things; show me that it is appealing to my inner being, my spirit. teach me that if I try, by my human strength, to WILL my way into doing the right things and stop doing the wrong things, I will remain in the life of Romans 7:15-24.

Jesus, help me see why, in Romans 6:12-13 above, that “to God” and “to Him” have been underlined. Teach me that this passage isn’t asking me to offer my body TO living a mature Christian life. It is asking me to OFFER my body and all its activities TO GOD. Make it clear to me that GOD is going to be empowering me AND MY BODY to live the mature Christian life. So, I now offer it to Him so He can empower me to win over it.

Jesus, show me that there are two major passages in the Bible ready to tell me WHY I should offer my body to God, WHAT I would have to do, and HOW I would go about doing it. Show me that these two passages are John 15:1-17 and Romans chapter 8.

Help me understand that in John 15:1-17 You explain WHY I should offer my body; and, You tell me WHAT it is going to take for me to live the mature Christian life. Then help me understand that Romans chapter 8 explains HOW to get the Holy Spirit to empower and help me live that life described in John 15:1-17.

Jesus, after I have completed today’s prayer, show me whether or not You want me to open these portions of Scripture by selecting the blue buttons below. If You want me to print them so I can spend extra time with my heavenly Father, show me that, that is what You want. Thank You Jesus for providing me with sample prayers, as I go through each verse in John 15:1-17 and Romans chapter 8. If You want me to, help me turn each verse into my own prayer for submitting my will to God’s will. Now, let me take a look at the problem I face in offering my body to God.

Jesus, show me that by using the procedures of John 15:1-17 and Romans 8, I become ready for Romans 6:12 and 2 Corinthians 4:10-11. Empower me to not LET sin reign in my mortal body so that I obey its evil desires (Rom 6:12). Show me how to always carry around in my body the DEATH of You, Jesus, SO THAT Your LIFE may also be revealed in my body. For I who am alive am always being given over to death for Your sake, SO THAT Your life may be revealed in my mortal body (2 Cor 4:10-11).

Jesus, help me understand that, as a spirit being, I am learning how to deal with my mortal body that has a WILL or desire for those things found in Galatians 5:19-21. Show me that, as a spirit inner being, I have a WILL or desire for those things found in Galatians 5:22-23. Teach me that Romans 6:12 is addressing the fact that I, as a spirit being, have my will back; show me that it is also addressing the fact that I have the Holy Spirit living inside me. This gives me Spirit-to-spirit communication. Help me see that the Holy Spirit is telling me what God’s will is, how to live according to it, and giving me the power to fulfill God’s will on earth through my earth suit, my body.

Jesus, teach me Romans 8:13 that tells me to take my freed will and the power of the Holy Spirit and stop LETTING sin reign in my mortal body. Show me that, that means I now have a way to take control over the misdeeds of my body. I and the Holy Spirit will be working together to fulfill Romans 6:12 and 2 Corinthians 4:10-11. Help me see how that works.

Jesus, I have heard of people “having their minds made up.” That means they have already decided what they are going to do and there is nothing anyone can do or say to change it. Teach me that when my will is set, my mind is set on a plan of action, a decision, or a belief. Help me have a mind-set that is from God.

Jesus, teach me that I can only have one of two mind-sets. Give me an explanation of the mind-set in the will of the unsaved person and the will of the saved person through Romans 8:5 (NIV). If I live according to the sinful nature I have my mind set on what that nature desires; but if I live in accordance with the Spirit I have my mind set on what the Spirit desires. In other words, being born again made it possible for me to have a mind-set from God; I allowed God to set my mind. Now, let me take a look and understand the Scripture that explains HOW to remain in You and KEEP my will or my mind set “on what the Spirit desires.”

Jesus, if I live according to (because I have a mind-set on) the sinful nature, I will die; but IF BY THE SPIRIT I put to death the misdeeds of my body, I will live (Rom 8:13). Teach me that this is a mind-set for the desires of the Spirit; show me that this is how to put my mind-set to work through cooperation WITH the Spirit.

Jesus, teach me that this is the most important verse I can read other than those leading me into salvation. Teach me that the words, by the Spirit you are giving me a look into HOW my relationship with the Holy Spirit works. Now that I am a child of God with His mind-set, I can work together with the Holy Spirit. BUT, help me notice this: It isn’t if I put to death the misdeeds of the body, I will live. AND, it isn’t if THE SPIRIT puts to death the misdeeds of the body, I will live. It is if BY the Spirit I put to death the misdeeds of the body, I will live. So, let me see how THAT works.

Jesus, help me see HOW I and the Holy Spirit will work together to bring my body under the control of God. In the same way, the Spirit helps me in my weakness. I do not know what I ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for me with groans that words cannot express. And He Who searches my heart knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will (Rom 8:26-27).

Jesus, teach me that when I pray the Lord’s Prayer, I am praying things that are “in accordance with God’s will.” When I take Scriptures from the Bible and ask God to produce them in me, I am praying “in accordance with God’s will.” And, when I yield to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to express deep things from out of my heart, I am praying “in accordance with God’s will.”

Teach me that all these types of prayers ask, seek, and knock on the provisions of God just like You said I should. Help me understand that, that brings the mighty power of God into my life so I can take control over my body and make it do God’s will (Matthew 7:7-11).

Jesus, I now pray these words: “Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” I now ask God to fulfill all the Scriptures I feel are also dealing with this subject. I now ask You, God to show me anything else You would like me to pray that would bring healing to the deep recesses of my heart; then help me pray those things too.
