Jesus, teach me that hallowed means I greatly revere and honor my heavenly Father. Fill my heart with Your supernatural reverence and honor for Him. Help me realize in my mind how much He deserves my reverence and honor; and then, help me feel it with my heart.

Help me rejoice in You always. I will say it again: Help me rejoice always (Phil 4:4)! Help me not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, empower me to present my requests to God (Phil 4:6).

Jesus, teach me that my heavenly Father is all about relationships; show me that He enjoys my expressions of praise and worship. Help me discover more and more how WORTHY He is for receiving my appreciation and words of praise. Make it clear to me that He is the only being that is able to receive such words and expressions without it corrupting His character and attitudes. Teach me that the greatest results that come from my praise, worship, and thanksgiving TO GOD is what it all does to ME. Help me see that the more I do these things, the more I will FEEL a joy, happiness, peace, and excitement in my chest.

Jesus, as I study, learn, memorize, and get interpretations to the Scriptures from the Holy Spirit, teach me how to use the “outline” of The Lord’s Prayer to add and expand each concept that is being represented in each word and sentence. Teach me that “hallowed be Your name” isn’t just a sentence that is to stand alone and never be built on. Show me that it is a sentence that is to be expanded into a time of praise, worship, and thanksgiving for all the wonderful things God has done in my life. Help me see that it helps me not just ask for things, get them, and then move on. Teach me that a relationship is built on respect, love, appreciation, and expressions of thankfulness.

Jesus, let the first thing I start doing is making a mental or written list of all the wonderful things my heavenly Father has done for me. Help me realize that salvation is one of those things that could take up most of my praise time, as I express HOW “hallowed” my Father’s name is. Help me think about where I would be right now, if He hadn’t given me salvation. Show me that as I go through this prayer, maturity comes as I EXPAND this prayer into using it as a reminder, a guideline, an outline for what is to be addressed first, second, and so on.

Jesus, help me enter God’s gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; help me give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations (Psa 100:4-5). Teach me that by putting the “hallowed be Your name” sentence at the first of the prayer, I am to start my prayers to my Father with praise, worship, and thanksgiving. Just like this was something that God taught David in his prayers in the Psalms, teach me the same thing. Help me not start off with requests, petitions, and questions until I have first shown my appreciation for all the things He has ALREADY done for me.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name: Jesus, teach me that the more I put in my list of appreciation, praise, thankfulness, and worship, the more the words, “Our Father” mean to my heart. Show me that as my mind gets all these REASONS for appreciation, praise, thankfulness, and worship, the more my heart is able to FEEL appreciation, praise, thankfulness, and worship. But, since the hard part is NOTICING the miracles, transformations, and blessings as coming from God, give me eyes that can see them. And, since it is also hard to see them as miracles, transformations, and blessings, give me Your ability to identify them.

Jesus. teach me that hallowed be Your name doesn’t grow in my heart, if I take the events and circumstances of my lives for granted. Help me start looking for things to put on my list. Help me start noticing ALL the wonderful things God is doing for me. Teach me that one of the biggest things God does for me is keep most bad things from happening to me in the first place. Help me be willing to think about all the things that are happening to others; help me see what God has protected me from; help me be glad, thankful, appreciative, and ready to worship Him for it.

Jesus, I have my praise, worship, and thanksgiving list ready, I now say: “Hallowed be Your name.” Now, help me expand this sentence with praise, worship and thanksgiving for all the things on my list; and, empower me to do it from my heart.
