Jesus, sometimes I don’t want to apply The Six Biblical Principles to my body for various reasons. Take me through a few of those possible reasons so I won’t make a mistake.

• Prov 16:25 (NIV) There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Jesus, I may read the Bible and not see anything wrong with something it is saying is wrong.


• Gal 5:19-21 (NIV) The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery (excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures); idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Jesus, many of these sins provide my body with extreme pleasure; others are at least fun doing; and some of them are used to help me dull the pain I am suffering from the issues of life. Help me DESIRE to be set free from all of these sins, because those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Make it clear to me that God can’t and won’t allow any of these things into His eternal Kingdom because they would destroy it.


• Jer 17:9 (NIV) The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jesus, sometimes I feel like I am already doing the right things and don’t need to apply the principles to an area of my life. But, show me that it is best for me to take anything to God that causes me to question its rightness.


• John 8:31-32 (NIV) To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said, “If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will KNOW the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Jesus, teach me that I must KNOW a truth before I can “do what it takes” to get it to set my free. Show me that I won’t be able to apply the principles to any of those things I don’t know are in the Bible.

Rom 7:24 (NIV) What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Jesus, help me learn and understand the truths in Romans 7:15-25; help me see a lot of mistakes and misdeeds I am committing. Let the Holy Spirit speak to my conscience and point out things that I need to change. Then, empower me to allow You to teach me and empower me to make those changes. Help me NOT reacting to my conscience and forgive myself, justify myself, excuse myself, or get my friends to tell me it isn’t my fault. Help me cooperate with You and “do what it takes” to be set free.

Jesus, You said in Matthew 7:24-27 (NIV): “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Teach me these important truths about putting your words into practice.

Rom 7:24 (NIV) What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Rom 7:25 (NIV) Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the SINFUL NATURE a slave to the law of sin. Jesus, teach me that the Holy Spirit doesn’t show me what is wrong with me to hurt me, depress me, frustrate me, or accuse me. Show me that it is like a mechanic diagnosing my car; they aren’t being critical; they are telling me what’s wrong so I can GET IT FIXED! Help me see that You want to gently take me through my problems so You and I can GET THEM FIXED!

Mat 5:4 (NIV) Blessed are those who MOURN, for they will be comforted. Jesus, teach me that discontintment helps me not only get my body changed, it helps me MOURN over things that my body has driven, forced, and tricked me into doing. As You take me through the healing process of winning over my body, You may want me to repent, cry, or release things that I feel bad about. If this happens, let this MOURNING process heal various areas of my damaged heart.

Rom 7:24 (NIV) What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Jesus, teach me that discontentment has several important characteristics in it. Let it bring me to a place where You and I can go to work on my body and bring it under Your and my control. Take me through eight important steps, help me join You in “doing what it takes” to win over my body. Teach me that Romans 7:25 is the next verse after the “wretched person” prayer and is a powerful verse. Use it to take me set-by-step into truth about Your and my relationship.

Rom 7:25 (NIV) Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself, in my mind, am a slave to God’s law, but in the SINFUL NATURE a slave to the law of sin. Jesus, teach me that my MIND is in my spirit; the SINFUL NATURE is in my body. So, help me see that there are eight things I need to be aware of and need to keep in mind.

Because Of My Jesus-Training And Jesus-Work
1. Thanks be to God: Jesus, because of Your training, I am now looking to You for the answer for my problem with the SINFUL NATURE of my body of death.

2. Through Jesus Christ our Lord: Jesus, because of Your training, I now see that the source of the answer is in You, Jesus Christ my Lord and Your provisions.

3. Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord: Jesus, because of Your training, I now have a thankfulness and excitement in the fact that there is an answer and that answer is on the way.

4. I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law: Jesus, because of Your training, I now understand that I am a spirit being and my mind, in my inner spirit being, delights in the things of God.

5. But in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin: Jesus, because of Your training, I now see that the SINFUL NATURE is in my body.

6. I myself, in my mind, am a slave to God’s law, but in the SINFUL NATURE a slave to the law of sin: Jesus, because of Your training, I now see where these two parts have their allegiance (the mind of my spirit and the sinful nature of my body).

7. SO THEN, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the SINFUL NATURE a slave to the law of sin: Jesus, because of Your training, I now recognize that the answer from You has not yet been applied to my body.

8. I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the SINFUL NATURE a slave to the law of sin: Jesus, because of Your training, I now accept the fact that I, the spirit person, am a slave to God’s law even though my body is not yet yielding to that law. I now realize that the deeds of my body are not representative of me, a spirit being.

Jesus, now that I understand the truth and the spiritual growth that are coming from my discontentment, help me take a look at where I go from here. Rom 8:1-2 (NIV) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, BECAUSE through Christ Jesus THE LAW of the Spirit of life set me free from THE LAW of sin and death. Teach me that this is my next powerful truth that moves me forward into winning over my body.

Jesus, show me that I know about being set free from the law of sin and death as it relates to righteousness being credited to my record. But, because of constant failures through misdeeds of my body, I often assume that, that is all there is. Teach me that this Scripture is talking about three types of freedom that I really need to keep in mind.

1. I HAVE FREEDOM THROUGH A PERFECT RECORD: Rom 5:19 (NIV) For just as through the disobedience of the one man [Adam] the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the One Man [Jesus] the many will be made righteous. Jesus, teach me that I am free from the law of sin and death in that You DIED in my place. Now I can no longer be punished for the sins I have committed in my past. Salvation provided me forgiveness for all my past sins.

2. I HAVE FREEDOM THROUGH CONTINUED PROTECTION: Rom 5:1-2 (NIV) Therefore, since we have been JUSTIFIED through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Jesus, show me that You also DIED in my place for the sins I am UNWILLFULLY committing now AND those I will UNWILLFULLY commit in my future. Help me see that Your blood turned these UNWILLFULL “sins” into misdeeds of my body so I will not fall under a penalty and punishment for these current and future activities either. Teach me that this gives me the time I need to learn and apply spiritual growth principles that will set me free from the misdeeds of my body. Make it clear to me that justification keeps me protected from present and future sins by keeping my perfect record adjusted to perfection.

3. I HAVE FREEDOM THROUGH THE POWER TO LIVE THE LIFE: Col 1:22-23a (NIV) But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation--IF you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel.

Jesus, teach me that the third aspect of my freedom is in the area of the power of the Holy Spirit over my body. Show me that You ROSE from the dead so as to provide me with a new way of living THROUGH MY BODY. Help me see that this is a power and freedom that not only empties me of misdeeds, it fills my body with godly activities called righteousness (good deeds that are beneficial to me and others). Teach me that sanctification or spiritual growth start empowering me to actually treat myself and others with righteous words and deeds that I was unable to produce before.

John 8:36 (NIV) So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. Jesus, I, like many new and untrained Christians, don’t realize that I got my God-given free will back at salvation and justification. So, sometimes I am surprised when God didn’t take over my life at salvation and justification. Sometimes I get confused when He doesn’t cause, make, or drive me into righteousness like Satan and my body drove me into sin. Jesus, You made me free indeed; teach me that, that means I have to “do what it takes” before You will give me Your help.
