Breastplate of Righteousness Scriptures
Jesus, this week as I spend time looking at the Scriptures that deal with the issues of righteousness, help me. I open my heart and mind to You and Your Bible so You can help me better understand my breastplate of righteousness.

| Jesus, help me put on, keep on, and strengthen the breastplate of righteousness through constant hungering and thirsting for it. Bless me as one of those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for I will be filled (Mat 5:6).

| Jesus, teach me that I need the breastplate because it is attacked by a world that is resistant to righteousness. Show me that I need it because persecution is a satanic attack. Bless me as one who is persecuted because of righteousness, for mine is the Kingdom of heaven (Mat 5:10).

| Jesus, teach me that my human righteousness cannot be used to protect me from satanic attack.
Teach me that unless my righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, I will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven (Mat 5:20). Help me to give up my own righteousness so I have room in my heart and mind for Your breastplate of righteousness.

Jesus, teach me that trying to look righteous before people will not protect me from satanic attack. Help me be careful not to do my “acts of righteousness” before men, to be seen by them. If I do, I will have no reward from my Father in heaven (Mat 6:1). Help me not try to look righteous and do “acts of righteousness” to empress people. Let me wear my breastplate of righteousness in humility and appreciation to You.

| Jesus, teach me that if I want my physical needs met, I am going to have to put the breastplate of righteousness on first. Help me seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, and all these THINGS will be given to me as well (Mat 6:33).

| Jesus, teach me that part of the reason I get attacked by people is because the Holy Spirit is making the people of the world miserable. Jesus, since the Holy Spirit has already come, He will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment (John 16:8). Help me understand that, that conviction is making them feel guilty concerning their sins. Help me take advantage of my breastplate of righteousness and let it protect me from their persecution and anger while I go out and lead them to You.

| Jesus, teach me that the gospel introduced me to the righteousness of God. Show me that salvation provided it for me to put on. I believe that in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed to me, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith (Rom 1:17).” Help me accept the fact that this righteousness was provided to me through salvation. Let me believe that I have it to put on, keep on, and use skillfully.
