Jesus, help me not study and learn all this information and forget why I am doing it. Teach me what this helmet of salvation is for. Help me not be like a student who is taking a class that is going to give a final exam and fail to understand the purpose of the class. Help me not end up studying all the wrong things. Keep me from learning a lot of things, but, fail the final exam and fail the eternity class. Help me not be a Christian that goes through all my life-classes, all my studies, and all my life without knowing what You will have on my final exam.

In Matthew 25:31-46, You tell me what my final exam will be based on. Help me be wise and take advantage of this information and base my studies, life-classes, and goals on what You will be testing and grading me on. Since the helmet of salvation is to protect my command center, help it protect those things that make me who I am. Since my command center makes all my decisions, and, the helmet of salvation is designed by God to help me make all the right decisions, let me take a quick look at why I am alive, why I am put on this planet, and what Your purpose is for me; I want to pass Your final exam.

Mat 25:31-33 (NIV) WHEN the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He WILL sit on His throne in heavenly glory. All the nations WILL be gathered before Him, and He WILL separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He WILL put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left. This is going to happen to you; you will be placed on one side or the other. So, we are spending some time here making sure you are placed on Jesus’ right side with the rest of His sheep. AND, the way for us to make sure this happens is to see, understand, and cooperate with the criteria Jesus sets for His sheep.

Jesus, there will come a time when You WILL say to those on Your right, “Come, you who are blessed by My Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world (Mat 25:34).” Help this be my reward for having lived my life based on Your test-requirements. Help me accept my responsibility to live my life in such a way that You will say this to me. Lay out for me what kind of life and activity You are looking for in me.

Jesus, teach me and empower me so that You say to me: I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited Me in, I needed clothes and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you came to visit Me (Mat 25:35-36).’ Help me yield to all You are trying to do in me so these words will apply to me in a total way. Help me not get confused with my first glance at these words. Help me not think You are telling me that physical service will get me into heaven. Help me study the Bible and see that You require me to teach Your commandments.

Jesus You are saying to me: “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Mat 28:18-20).” Help me realize that this great commission is a vital part of me passing Your final exam.

Jesus, there are Christians who only work on people’s physical needs and there are others who only work on people’s spiritual needs.

Help me ask You some vital questions I must consider:

• If I help one person one time with this requirement in Your final exam, would I pass the test? No!


• If I help one person for the rest of their life, would I pass? No!


• Are You requiring that I do this for everyone for the rest of their lives? Yes!

BUT, help me not panic; help me trust that You have a way for me to be able to meet all the needs in everyone’s life for the rest of their life.

Let this little world saying help me understand this Jesus-principle. They say, If you give a person a fish, you feed them for a day. If you teach them how to fish, you feed them for life.

Jesus, let me be one of these righteous who will answer You, “Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? When did we see You a stranger and invite You in, or needing clothes and clothe You? When did we see You sick or in prison and go to visit You?” Let me be one of those that You say: “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for ONE of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me (Mat 25:37-40).” So transform my life with Your truths that I get to a place where I have things to share with others. Help me not be one of those who has been stealing; empower me to steal no longer. Help me always realize that I must work, doing something useful with my own hands, that I may have something to share with those in need (Eph 4:28).

Teach me that this helmet of salvation is trying to do something special to my brain, mind, heart, and will that will transform me, train me, and empower me to fulfill the requirements of Your final exam. With the helmet on, Your principles, ideas, concepts, truths, and wisdom will flow into me. They will turn me into a person who will SEE how to take care of the whole world’s needs for the rest of their lives.

Jesus, teach me that whatever I did for ONE of the least of these brothers of Yours I did for You. Some will listen to my good news message and some won’t. But, help me realize that all who do, will find out how Christianity and You work. Teach me the full aspect of the fact that my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:19). Help me make this truth available to every person who will listen.

Jesus, help me not be one of those on Your left that You say: “Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite Me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after Me (Mat 25:41-43).” Teach me that I will not be judged on all the bad things I did. Help me see that You don’t even mention what these people DID; You just list off all the good things they DIDN’T do.

Teach me that if I reject You, I lose my opportunity for training and power to be able to do good things. You are the vine; I am the branch. If I remain in You and You in me, I will bear much fruit; apart from You I can do nothing (John 15:5). Reveal to me that people fail Your final exam because they don’t have the ability to feed the whole world for the rest of their lives. If they don’t have You, they don’t accept Your principles, Your transformation, and Your power to do the good You require of them. Show me that I can do everything through You Who give me strength (Phil 4:13).

Jesus teach me these principles so I won’t be surprised and confused and answer, “Lord, when did I see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help You?” Teach me and empower me so You won’t say to me, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me (Mat 25:44-45).” Help me keep my helmet of salvation on, so You can teach me how to do all kinds of good things to people. Show me that without the helmet on, all kinds of misinformation will get into my brain, mind, heart, and will. That will confuse me, cheat me, lie to me, and cause me to fail my final exam.

Jesus, help me cooperate with You so I will NOT go away to eternal punishment, but make me one of the righteous who go to eternal life (Mat 25:46). Make it VERY clear to me that the helmet of salvation and all the other pieces of armor are very important to me. If I am willing to understand why I am on this planet, it will help me properly apply myself to those things You say are important. That will get me ready for all of eternity as well as give me an incredible life here on earth.
