The Resistance Courses Part 2

Workbook For
“Resistance Through Renewal”

The Three-Step Procedure
For Resisting Through Renewal

Rom 10:8-10 (NIV) But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

STEP ONE:
I Am Learning From My Salvation Experience

1. I Am Learning From
What I Did To Get Salvation
Jesus, take me through my salvation, new birth procedure and use it to teach me how to live the Christian life. Since I have already experienced the supernatural miracle of being born again, use it to help me understand how to get additional miracles happening in my life. Teach me that Romans 10:8-10 lays out a clear set of procedures for me getting salvation and justification miraculously placed in my life. Show me that the methods I applied to getting salvation are the same ones I must use for growing in my Christian life.

2. I Am Learning Spiritual Procedures
Rom 10:8 (NIV) But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: Jesus, make it clear to me that when I read a passage of Scripture in the Bible and I do what it tells me to do, supernatural power and transformation flow through my faith into my life. Help me keep in mind that in order for me to be born again, I had to either read this verse or someone had to take the truths of it and apply them to my life. I had to accept that my mouth and my heart had to do something.

3. I Am Taking Faith-Action
Rom 10:9 (NIV) That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Jesus, help me imagine that I am not a Christian but was reading the Bible trying to find out how to become one. If I read Romans 10:9 and didn’t do what it told me to do, salvation wouldn’t have taken place in me. But, if I took faith-action, I would stop, read, and obey this Scripture by using my mouth and heart. Salvation would supernaturally come into my life. Instantly I would be born again.

Jesus, teach me that the moment I used my mouth to CONFESS and my heart to BELIEVE, I obeyed this Scripture (took faith-action). Help me see that, that produced a supernatural miracle by me using spiritual procedures. Once I obeyed, it happened to me because I believed what it said would happen. Help me understand that even if I didn’t obey this Scripture by reading it for myself, if someone else read it and used it to lead me into doing what it took to be saved, help me see that my mouth confessing and my heart believing are how I am going to grow spiritually for the rest of my Christian life.

4. I Am Getting
The Results Of Obedience Through Faith
Rom 10:10 (NIV) For it is with your heart that you believe and ARE justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and ARE saved. Jesus, review with me how did I become a Christian. Help me see that I obeyed this Scripture or the principles out of it. Since someone led me through these principles, the results were: I became a child of God, a member of His family, and a citizen of His eternal Kingdom. Teach me that these procedures are spiritual procedures that work on all the Bible is going to be telling me about.

5. I Am Getting
The Assurance Of Obedience Through Faith
Jesus, take me back so I can see HOW salvation happened in my life. Help me understand that once I obeyed the requirements of Romans 10:9-10, the Holy Spirit gave me an assurance. Because I obeyed this verse or the principles out of this verse, a supernatural assurance started speaking to my heart. Rom 8:16 (NIV) The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Help me realize that the fact that I KNOW I have been born again and KNOW I am a Christian is a miracle provided to me by the Holy Spirit.

STEP TWO:
I Am Applying The Principles

Jesus, since step one showed me how confessing with my mouth and believing in my heart works, help me see that it is time for me to allow You to teach me how to apply these two procedures to other verses in the Bible.

1. I Believe In Creation Words
Rom 10:17 (NIV) Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. Jesus, help me understand that just like someone providing me with the gospel message produced faith in me, so does reading the Bible. Make it clear to me that as I read and study the Bible, You, through the Holy Spirit, speak faith into me. Once faith is spoken into my heart, help me understand that I am able to believe that passage and allow it to create the benefits of that verse.

2. I Believe The Word Is Near Me
Rom 10:8 (NIV) But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: Jesus, help me see where this verse says the word is. It is in my mouth and in my heart. As I, a child of God, read and study the Bible, show me that the way for God’s Word to move from the pages of my Bible into my life is, me confessing it with my mouth and believing it in my heart. Since the first application of this procedure was for me to be born again, help me understand that this is what Romans 10:9-10 are all about.

3. I Am Going
From Salvation To Spiritual Growth
Rom 10:9a (NIV) That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord....” Jesus, help me keep in mind that when I was needing salvation, the procedure was: Confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” So, if I need another miracle of God from the Bible, help me see that I would take the words of that Scripture and put them in the place of “Jesus is Lord.” Once I have already confessed with my mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” salvation has already taken place. After that, make it clear to me that it is time to use the same procedures for other spiritual needs.

However Jesus, help me understand that I must continue to confess with my mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and continue to believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead for the rest of my life. But, I must also use the confession with my mouth and the believing in my heart for obtaining other Biblical principles. Teach me that confessing and believing are spiritual tools for bringing Biblical things out of the Bible into the behavior, relationships, and circumstances of my life. When I do, miracles come my way just like the miracle of salvation did.

STEP THREE:
I Am Practicing On An Example

1. I Am Using My Mouth
To Get Freedom From Condemnation
Rom 8:1-2 (NIV) Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. Jesus, show me how to apply this mouth-and-heart procedure to Romans 8:1-2: If I confess with my mouth (Rom 10:10),“ there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Rom 8:1),” and believe in my heart that (Rom 10:10) the creation word of God set me free from condemnation (Rom 8:1), it will supernaturally happen.

Jesus, what I just did was, I took the tools out of Romans 10:10 and applied them to getting condemnation removed from my life through Romans 8:1. Help me confess out loud: “there is now no condemnation because I am in Christ Jesus.” I would be able to say that because I believe in my heart that (Rom 10:10) the creation word of God set me free from condemnation. Teach me that through the confession of my mouth, based on the faith in my heart, I got a miracle worked in my life.

2. I Am Using My Heart
To Get Freedom From Condemnation
Rom 10:9b (NIV) If I...believe in my heart that God set me free from condemation AND I confess it with my mouth, it will miraculously happen. Show me that it isn’t adequate for me to just read and study my Bible. Show me that I must read and study my Bible so I will know WHAT to confess with my mouth and WHAT to believe in my heart. But, I must confess what I read and study and I must believe it in my heart. Teach me that it is a powerless exercise to read and study my Bible without confessing it and believing it.

3. I Keep Confessing And Believing
Rom 10:10 (NIV) For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Jesus, no matter how I felt after doing this, make it always be clear to me that it did happen. Whether I saw any changes in my life, it did happen. Whether anyone else felt like I was a new creation in Christ Jesus or not, help me always believe it did happen. Show me that the only controlling factor was whether or not I CONTINUED to believe it happened. Jesus empower me to constantly believe.

James 1:6-8 (NIV) But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. Jesus, empower me to constantly believe as I use the confess-and-believe spiritual system to get the rest of the provisions of God from the Bible.
