John 15:7 (NIV) If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. Jesus, teach me that as I get closer to being able to put to death the misdeeds of the body, that causes me to get more prayers answered positively. Show me that it is like walking; I grow spiritually and more prayers get answered. As more prayers get answered, I grow more spiritually. Help me see that this process of the spiritual walk takes me farther into the provisions of God.

Gal 5:25 (NIV) Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Jesus, show me that the Holy Spirit makes my confession with my mouth and believing in my heart work. He causes the problems with what I look at and listen to get directed into the things of You and the Bible. He takes the problems I have with my mouth and tongue and brings the power of God into the situation. He takes the battle I am having with my body and helps me get Your training and power so I can win.

Mat 6:22-23 (NIV) The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole BODY will be full of light. But if your eyes are bad, your whole BODY will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! Jesus, make it clear to me that my body is animalistic; it craves pleasure. It pushes my eyes in directions they shouldn’t go. It lacks the guidelines or morals that I as a spirit being have. It will LOOK for pleasure no matter how evil it is. You and the Holy Spirit are the only reason it doesn’t fall into total depravity.

Jesus, help me see that the Holy Spirit has been working with the conscience in my spirit from the moment I got old enough to be responsible for the issues of right and wrong. He is the reason I feel guilty when I look at things that are wrong. Help me understand that I can harden my conscience where I can no longer hear the Holy Spirit. But as long as I don’t do that, help me understand that He will keep letting me know what is right to look at and what is wrong.

Jesus, teach me that my body’s drives are stronger than I am. So, I need You to empower me to resist these drives, cravings, and urges that the Holy Spirit is warning me about. Help me cooperate with You and the Holy Spirit so I can put to death the misdeeds of my body.

Jesus, help me understand that the sinful nature is in my body. That nature was passed down to me from Adam and Eve. Show me that this is what is trying to flow out of my body, if I don’t win over it: Gal 5:19-21 (NIV) The acts of the SINFUL NATURE are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery (excessive indulgence in sensual pleasures); idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Jesus, make it clear to me that not one of these acts of the sinful nature will be allowed into God’s eternal kingdom. But, everyone of them are being displayed out in front of my eyes. The world and the devil are advertising them, tempting me with them, bringing them to me through other people, and making them LOOK like normal ways of living life. Teach me that for me to turn my eyes and ears away from them will require the supernatural miracles of God. For me to not allow them to creep into my five senses will mean that I really do have the right WANT and HATE (Rom 7:15).

Acts 1:8 (NIV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Jesus, help me to always keep in mind that the entry way into my heart is through my eyes and ears. I have the power to recognize something that I shouldn’t be looking at and immediately turn my eyes away. As You empower me to always ASK You to help me believe I have that power, You will speak faith into me so I will know I can turn my head just as soon as I see something bad.

1 Cor 6:18 (NIV) Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Jesus, help me always realize that my body will want to go places that I shouldn’t go. But, help me know I have the Holy Spirit’s power to refuse. If I accidently find myself in a bad situation, am all of a sudden presented with a temptation, or can see it is a questionable place to be, help me always use the power of the Holy Spirit to get out of there as fast as I can.

Mat 26:41 (NIV) Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak.

• WATCH: Jesus, teach me that watching is to be on my guard. Prepare my heart and mind in advance to be ready to remove myself from anything that will expose me to wrong, bad, or evil things. As You lead me through these studies, help me understand that You are showing me things that I need to avoid. While showing me things I need in my life, You are also showing me things to resist. Teach me that one of the aspects of resisting is to be looking for those things that have the potential of flowing through my eyes and ears and contaminating my heart and mind.


• PRAY: Jesus, teach me that praying is to ask You to help me recognize the first signs of warning that something isn’t right. Let me ask You to help me remember and recognize those things You taught me to avoid and resist. Help me let You be the One Who decides what I should and shouldn’t expose my eyes and ears to. Empower me to remove myself from anything that is trying to contaminate my heart.
