Rather than each person representing themselves, they start working on what is best for the whole. Jesus helps us see that we are one; He uses the power of His love to help us want to do what is best for the relationship. Once a couple truly becomes one, they give up selfishness, self-interests, and self-centeredness. They love each other so much that they want to make each other happy.
