Our Eyes Fixed On Jesus Brings Greater Revelation
Eph 4:15-16 (NIV) Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him Who is the Head, that is, Christ. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
When our eyes see only our little part of the work of Christ, we get very limited in our view. We aren’t taking up our cross and following Him into a personal ministry in a small area of the world. We aren’t alone like we sometimes feel we are. Once we get our eyes off of all the work Jesus is doing around us and in the whole world, it is then that selfishness, pride, narrow thinking, and limited ministry start to set in. We are all “joined and held together by every supporting ligament.” |
We are all a “part” doing its work together with every other part of Jesus’ Body. We are all working in a worldwide Christian movement that was authored by Jesus and is being perfected through us. What is Jesus doing in the other churches in town? That is a part of what we are a part of. What is Jesus doing in other churches in America? That is a part of what we are praying for. When we share sermons, resources, prayer, time, and efforts with other Christians and ministers; we are starting to fix our eyes on Jesus. In other words, we are starting to see the big picture. Let’s get our eyes off of ourselves, our ministries, our accomplishments, our goals, and our calling. And, let’s start seeing Jesus, His ministries, His accomplishments, His goals, and His callings. The Head has the brains. He does the thinking, planning, directing, coordinating, manipulating, and empowering. We are all a part of something really big. But, it has to be all Jesus. |
