That was like saying our best ministers weren’t going to heaven. As far as anyone could tell, the Pharisees and the teachers of the law were the most godly people on the planet.

Not only did they seem to be living the law, they had developed special systems where they looked like they didn’t even get close to breaking one of God’s laws. How could Jesus say that they weren’t good enough to go to heaven? And, if they weren’t going to make it, where did that leave everyone else?
