Mat 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

We Do Things Differently Here
Notice how poor in spirit is connected to inheriting the Kingdom of Heaven? The Kingdom of Heaven or Kingdom of God is God’s name for the spirit realm where He lives. We are going to be living in God’s Kingdom for eternity. And yet, a lot of the time we spend is preparation on how to live here.

There are students who are supposed to be preparing for life. But, instead of studying and learning the material, they learn how to beat the system in the school they are attending. They may cheat, get someone else to do their homework for them, only learn those things they know are going to be on the test, or only learn it long enough to finish the class and then forget it. They have learned how to manage the school system; but, they haven’t prepared for their future. Their future was why they were in school in the first place. This is what happens to a lot of Christians.

God wants us to learn how to live in His Kingdom. Committing misdeeds of the body won’t make any sense when we understand God’s Kingdom. Once we start seeing why God wants us to be free from the misdeeds of the body, we will be much more willing to cooperate with the Holy Spirit. The rules for God’s Kingdom have to be understood and appreciated before we can live by the Spirit.
Rom 8:13-18 (NIV) For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.

This kind of information helps us to see how the laws of the Kingdom of heaven work. By comparing these spiritual principles with the natural laws of this planet, we are able to better understand how God’s Kingdom works. Jesus did that a lot throughout the Gospels with His parables and in many of His everyday conversations. The Bible says that we can gain special insights into God and His Kingdom by observing God’s creation.
