Mat 6:19-21 (NIV) Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

All Things We Consider Valuable
Jesus is trying to help you not store your treasures on earth because they won’t last long. It is a waste of time getting earthly rewards and wealth that is only invested in temporal things. But, that isn’t something we think about much while living on this earth.
We know we are going to die and leave it all behind. But, that doesn’t stop us. These treasures and rewards seem so real. It feels like we just can’t live without them. Not only do earthly finances and rewards benefit us physically as creature comforts, they benefit us emotionally. We NEED a little bit of appreciation or recognition. So, we try to look financially and professionally successful.
